You are correct sir. X takes this one. Egypt's Anwar Sadat was co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, along with Israel's Menachim Begin, for the negotiation of the Camp David Accord, a peace treaty between their two countries. Jimmy Carter played a key role in the negotiations.

Sadat was killed a few years later when several gunmen, disguised as soldiers as I recall, jumped out of a truck and open fire while Sadat was viewing a parade.

This provides a segue into another question. Begin and Sadat marked the first time the Nobel Peace Prize was shared between an Arab and Israeli leader. What was the second time?

Yassir Arafat shared it with Yitzhak (sp?) Rabin and, I think, maybe also Shimon Peres after the Oslo accords. 1994?

Is that the one you're thinking of?

That's the one. I don't think Peres was involved. Oslo accords dealt with a peace deal between Israel and Palestinians, among other things. Ironically, Rabin was also assassinated. As far as I can tell both Sadat and Rabin were killed by radical elements of their own country who were opposed to the very deals that won them the Nobel Peace Prize in the first place.

Which best selling and often banned book apparently inspired Mark David Chapman to murder John Lennon?

OK, it just popped into my head. I'm pretty sure it was Catcher in the Rye.

Yeah - apparently the lardass loser fancied himself as a bit of a Holden Caulfield, when it was him who was the phoney all the time.

What a collosal downer that was. Every now and then you read about Chapman getting turned down for parole. I recall at one point he was suing for the return of his copy of Lennon's album Double Fantasy, which is the last thing Lennon signed, it is probably worth a lot of money.

Never read Catcher in the Rye. One of these days...
