Well that new one that goes up his side to his chest, is just a continuation of tattoo that he already had. It now extends from the top of his thigh to his chest.

I did the same when my old man went (I was only 19 mind). It's a funny thing, when people say "nice tat" I think of my old man and say "ta mate"
