CGM I wasn't talking about matla, I was talking about the sovereign military order of malta which is basically like a building in rome that under international law is considered sovereign.

Hmm, interesting. It's not what I was thinking of. A quick look see says maybe it qualifies, it has some aspects of sovereignty under International law, but it's Wiki article says it does not exist as a state, although it does have something called "obderver status" at the united nations. It is not clear to me that it is just a building, but anyways it's not the answer I wanted.

Lol heck I don't know if its just a building but that's what I imagine in my head when I think of microstates like the vatican...if that's not it, then nothing pops to mind right now.Good tough question tho

If the Sovereign thingy of malta was the answer, surely we would have had to accept every single counties international embassies around the world as they are all sovereign territory and they would be completely encircled by another country?

Apart from Iraq and Afghanistan's embassies which are our territory

I know that wasn't the answer, but I thought I'd make the point anyway.
