For the majority of people it's not that simple Miles. I'm glad that you've been able to do that and it's working out but what's worked for you won't necessarily work for others... The majority of us can't just emigrate.

The BBC has been reporting how European nationals are getting jobs over British people in the UK.

That kind of story just sounds bizarre to me. I have been gone a long time, but that just sounds odd.

It's not true.

An Italian company won a contract fair and square, there were some foreign workers who had to come over as they had scarce skills that were not quickly obtainable in the UK (ie everyone who could do this in the UK already had a job).

It was not financially viable to train up locals to do it.

They then advertised for some other positions in local and national UK press, didn't get any responses or decent candidates ..... so they advertised overseas and brought those guys in.

The unions are kicking up a fuss because they are saying the foreigners are coming in for less money (which, incidentally under the Laval ruling is legal anyway), which they were not. The comp-amny is spending a forune bringing in these people because they could not get anyone in East Anglia .... which is not that surprising really.

Don;t for a minute believe the shit we are being told on the news. I sometimes wonder if reportrrs have a secret mission statement to twist things around in the way most guaranteed to make the viewer feel annoyed, outraged and frightened.
