Default Calzaghe Retires - Good Riddance

Seen this article on Boxingnews 24, what an absolute sh1te website.

I don't know why they let some of these muppets write for them but I'm forever seeing these kind of articles on there.

I'm not saying Calzaghe has a cast iron legacy but damn, no need for this kind of tripe:

    Calzaghe Retires - Good Riddance!

Good riddance seems a little harsh methinks. The author has an agenda and sticks to it. Not a balanced view at all. Calzaghe beat anyone who was willing to fight him. I think Hopkins priced himself out of a fight years ago and who else should Joe have fought? Jones Jr and Glen Johnson? Jones Jr is notoriously difficult to deal with and wont travel, and with Calzaghe under Warren a similar situation was happening too. And nobody paid any attention to Johnson after Hopkins beat him up...it was only when he was next in line to beat Jones Jr that he really became noticed properly. Otherwise, I dont see how Joe could have done it much differently in terms of fighting the best.

My only gripe with Joe is that there is too much padding on his record post Eubank. Better opponents could have been found. Not of the calibre of Jones or Hopkins of course, but decent pros nonetheless. The likes of Manfredo and Thornburry dont mean very much to me at all. But the same can be said of a lot of opponents on the record of Hopkins too. Thats just my own little gripe. Calzaghe is a great fighter.

Hate to say it,I agree with everything but the title
Other then his sorta win against Hopkins(by wich I mean to say it was at best a draw) and his win against an injured Kessler, who did he really fight, overateds and has beens far and wide.
You couldnt get a better massage at a spa, then the way Warren treated his record
Its a shame, because Joe showed guts coming off the canvas against B-hop and Jones,it makes you wonder what could have been

Even with out them jones will fly into the HOF..and eubank said himself that if he couldn't find a way to beat jones he wouldn't fight him....and the difference is nobody will say that either of the those guy would have even stood a chance against prime roy...whereas prime roy, hopkins, and eubank would have beaten calzaghe..and easily at that...

    sad very sad

i loathe some of the guys outside of the ring that i love inside of it (hopkins, trinidad, eubank) but thats still no reason for someone to bash someone with a career like joe calzaghe and love him or hate him he will always go down as one of the great 168-175 fighters not just of this era but all time!

Couldn't of said it better myself. Calzaghe was a great talent. Very skilled fighter. Only a idiot would say otherwise. But an All Time Great? Please. Far from it. I find it hilarious that this guy refused to rematch his 2 losses to Robin Reid and Bernard Hopkins with the lame excuse "That I don't do rematches". Yet years ago he rematch Mario Veit. Could it of been that Veit was a 1st round knock out in there first fight? Of course it was. Yes I know Veit was a mandatory. But who the fukk cares? All he had was the crap ass WBO belt. Give the shiit up. He gave up the IBF title instead of facing his mandatory. So Calzaghe obviousaly had no problem giving up belts.

When it's all settled Calzaghe will be grouped with Sven Ottke. Another fighter he ducked.

lol are you seriously comparing joe calzaghe with sven ottke

Calzaghe was held up by a good 8/9 years not an entire bit by the fact he was SCARED of fighting the very men he has just beaten but that boxing politics hampered him for years and that nobody but nobody stateside wanted anything to do with JC.

If you seriously believe joe calzaghe preffered fighting omar sheika infront of 6`000 in an old welsh stadium instead of roy jones jr in vegas for millions of pounds then your as dumb as what i took you for.

america held joe calzaghe back not the other way around....dont forget that!

Yeah I'm sure they kept his passport hidden away from him. That shows how stupid you really are.

Naseem Hamed made his way to America in his prime. Looking for big fights. Not just running his mouth saying he wanted them. Calzaghe never did. Think about it. His only 2 fights in the US were against fighters no longer in there prime. One of them who he blasted in his book saying he would never fight. Yet for that your sucking his dikk?

You're not fooling anybody with this. We all know you're a massive Calzaghe fan. I bet you had a good cry when you heard he was retiring.
