Thats an ignorant thing to say. Wlad hadnt won a title when he fought Purrity, and when he fought Sanders he was only WBO champ. Completely different circumstances. Now Klit is undisputed champ with 7 defenses.
If he doesnt fight Haye but fights Arreola or another top HW i'd be happy with that. Haye can then just force him to fight by winning more fights. I think Haye deserves a shot.
Hows he undisputed? Vitali and the freak have two major belts and Wlad has the other one (I still don't regard WBO yet) so to me he is far from undisputed, but if you talk about the best i'd say Vitali is head and shoulders above Wlad and had the fight between him and Haye materialised I think Haye would probably have lost, but as it's Wlad that looks more likely I think that Haye will win a version of the HW championship and if he can let Vitali age a bit more he'll soon have the chance to take him out too as he'll be too old.
We've never seen Haye take a punch from a power punching heavyweight, we haven't seen Haye fight a top 20 heavyweight yet, we haven't seen him last 10-12 rounds with a heavyweight, and we haven't seen Haye show defense vs a heavyweight either.
I would like to see Haye vs a bigger heavyweight, someone 6'5-6'6 who knows how to box or is just a dangerous puncher. There is a long list of fighters Haye can fight and prove himself against before getting a shot at Wlad
Could you name a power punching heavyweight ? I can only think of David Haye.
Haye has fought 2 top 15 ACTUALLY ranked heavyweights. Bonin number 11 and Barrett number 5.
He hasn't lasted that amount of rounds because he blows his opponents away with his power.
Monte Barrett hit Haye. Haye stayed up straight.
Not the time Barret hit him and he went down, but for some reason it was considered a slip.
No way is Barret considered number 5 at heavyweight by the ring or in any credible list
Tony Thompson, Arreola, Both Klitschko, Peter, Ibragimov, Valuev, Chagaev, Povetchkin, Chambers, Witherspoon, and probably Holyfield amongst others would all be ranked higher than him, and are all better than him.
Andrew Golota is out there for Haye to fight, if he wanted to impress somebody he could have at least fought someone who USED TO BE somebody in the division. David could fight Sam Peter, Lamon Brewster, and the way Haye likes eating right hands I would even feel good if he fought Hasim Rahman and won.....I would feel better of his chances than him just jumping in vs Wladimir.
Not all heavyweights are as easy to KO as Monte Barrett and Bonin.....I mean hell Audley Harrison TKO'd Bonin before Haye even thought of fighting him. And I'm sure even you agree that Audley Harrison doesn't deserve a title shot.
I don't know whether to think you've seen the Audley-Bonin fight or not... Was one of the worst stoppages I have ever seen... Bonin was well in the fight into 9th round or when ever the referee decided he was bored of it. Haye completely fucked him up within a round.
I don't know what's scenario is worse... that you simply read boxrec and based your opinion on the fight off that without even seeing what happened or that you did see the fight and despite supposedly knowing a thin or two about boxing thought that it was a legitimate TKO...
He's a chinny fraud who got knocked out by a pro-celebrity golfer. The only reason he holds any belt is because the heavyweight division is total garbage. The fact that a chinny cruiser is the most exciting fighter at heavyweight tells you everything you need to know about the division.
At the 02 arena a 20ft ring its on![]()
