She made th4e pint that none of my mates particularly like boxing, there are no local fighters of note, and why cant i be normal and just like football like everyone else.
Im sure other guys on here have had similiar questions asked of them, and i hope they came up with better answers than i initially did. Alli could say is i liked boxing cos its 'awesome'.....

It got me to thinking tho. Why am i a boxing fan?
Here is what i come up with. I like watching fights cos it seems like the purist form of battle, two guys using their fists to sort out who the better one is. I like boxing cos of the diversity of characters u see i mean take this for example.
The heavyweight champ is a well educated well spoken 6 ft 7 giant from the Ukraine. The guy everyone wants to see him fight is a self assured, hard hitting londoner, who wouldnt look out of place ina rap video. U could hardly get 2 different ppl.
I love the way u can never be sure who was gonna win in boxing, when both fighters are world class. In just the last six months i was positive Pavlik would beat Hopkins, DLH would beat Pac, and Margarito would destroy old Mosely. Boy was i wrong and i was happy for it.
The lead up to a big fight excites me more than any other event, i get goosebumps when Buffer or any other bigtime ring announcer introduces the combatants and they dont usually go away til there is a clear winner, i like shouting at the tv when the ref misses something, or chewing my nails when one of my favourite fighters is in a close contest.
These are some of the reasons im a boxing tragic and i'd like to hear why some of u other ppl are fans.
Very nicely put. The one on one aspect has always been a draw card for me and that coupled with the fact it's a fight and the stakes are sooo much higher than most other sports in a physical sense. Boxers are some of the fittest toughest guys in sport. I started watching when I was very young and loved Sugar Ray Leonards Golden Gloves on early in the morning here. Everyone else in my family would be asleep and i'd be up watching that. When the fights used to be on free to air TV we used to all sit and watch the Fenech fights and cheer, great memories.
