The fact that Margo "slaughtered" Cotto who in turn beat Mosley who in turn slaughtered Margo is what makes boxing my great love. Reminds me of when Barkley beat Hearns twice and then got beat by Duran who was demolished by Hearns. You gotta love it as it defies logic. That's part of the mystery as to why I love this thing.

As well, when I watch a white kid from a small town in Minnasota and a black kid from NYC beat the hell out of each other for 4 rounds and then hug one another at the end of the fight, a bit of a chill goes down my spine. I love that part of boxing.

Boxing kept me off the streets as a kid. The first day I stepped into the boxing gym I really hadnt followed the sport closely, it was more curiosity and the willingness to try to do something better for myself, while getting rid of some aggresion in a productive way. From that day on, ive been hooked. Boxing is like a drug. Its combat, its art, it creativity, its opportunity, and its the ultimate test of mental and physical toughness. There arent many things that can bring out persons inner fire like boxing. Plus, your encouraged to knock people out and put a beating on them. You get praise and money instead of jail time. You really cant beat that.

Great Topic, Eagle and your post is spot on from my viewpoint.

I like boxing for the reasons as said by Eagle and also things like the not knowing the outcome. The feelings you have(nerves) when your favourite fighter who you've always supported is in a dangerous fight (see Lennox Lewis in my case)

Alot of the time the build-up and anticipation is better than the fight but that is boxing IMO, the fight is almost secondary it's the drama and not knowing in the run-up - the different opinions and in some cases; the years of waiting.

Boxing is a 2 man sport - no need for team mates and you don't play every week - you lose its a long wait til the next fight. Everything hinges on the fight - loses are almost final, win and your fighter marches on.
