Mulroney retired from politics before the end of his term, and the Conservative Party nominated Kim Campbell to fill in, she lasted only a short while before being thrashed by Jean Cretien in the next election. Cretien, the lying sonofabitch that he was, served three terms, over 10 years, before being succeeded by Paul Martin.
