I was there at the Benn/McClellan fight. A hell of a war.

There is fair degree of revionism going on though, people have since said that benn only won by cheating, by fouling or by having the referee in his pocket. Bullshit.

McClellan was a decent fighter, who could bang a bit in the early rounds. He was not going to be the second coming of Marvin Hagler .... he lost his knockout power after the fifth round generally, his defense wasn't great and he always was open to being hit himself. Exciting, yes ..... great, no.
Good call with 'cheating' and revisionist stuff. That shite boggles my mind.He was back in within the extended count in the first round.Alot was made of rabbit punching but we're not sipping tea in there.McClellan was leaning in quite a bit to contribute.

McClellan was hittable,it was just weathering his explosive offence to get there.I dont think we'll ever know how great he may or may not have been.I think alot is made about fighters outside of the ring, when your in the public eye,you subject yourself to it.I see it as a slippery slope.I'd venture to say that if you dug long and deep enough,we could find very unsavory and questionable happenings with many past & present.
