    Resilient Anderson stops Muttley

Anderson was outpunched but managed to turn the bout around
Kevin Anderson staged a sensational comeback to defeat Young Muttley and add the British welterweight title to his Commonwealth crown on Thursday.
Muttley was on top for most of the bout in Birmingham as his fierce left hook paid dividends.

But Scotland's Anderson, 23, turned the fight in his favour with a brilliant left hook of his own in the 10th round.

Muttley tried to recover but Anderson piled on the punches forcing the referee to stop the fight.

"This has been my most difficult encounter of my career," said Anderson.

"Muttley is a very tough fighter and to come back as I did was a great achievement."

Meanwhile, Muttley, 30, conceded a momentary lapse in concentration cost him the bout.

"I tossed the fight away," he said. "I was well on top but Anderson is a tough opponent and he took his opportunity."

So the guys trying to tell me that Anderson is the next big British hope, still believe??

Dont make me laugh!! He is plain and simple a brawler with no defence, anyone with any amount of boxing skill and a boxing brain could pick him off all night.

Agreed, it was an entertaining fight and he did great to come back, but Young Muttley was a far superior boxer, and would have won comfortably if he didn't switch off.

I saw Anderson's weaknesses against the other Scottish bloke last time out and he was very novicey was about 13-0 fighting against no bodies, but alot of Anderson fans believed he would be a world star, he was being outboxed by a novice what did that say?? Not only that the guy had come in on about a weeks notice, Mutley is also nothing special i actully fancied Anderson to take this fight but i wasnt impressed and never have been to be honest.

It was the first "major" bill in the city for years because of previous crowd trouble

Good fight! The commentators and the ref called Andersons knock down of Muttley in the second round a slip but i'm pretty sure it was genuine...Muttley was a bit "unlucky" in the end but Anderson showed alot of bottle.

    YES

If Muttley had a better array of punches then he could do well but the left hook 300000 times in a row is gonna take a LOT outta your stamina.
    Good little scrap tho

Ok Skel I'll bite. I still think he will prove to be a world class boxer. Last night he was lucky, I had him 3 points down going into the last three rounds and to be honest had resigned myself that it was not to be. However there were positives, his chin stood up well despite the knockdown and his stamina at the finish proved he can last the pace. He's not as far down the road as I thought but with some work on his defence I still think he'll go on to bigger and better things. Remember he is only 23 so he has plenty of time to work on his flaws.

At least we know he has good stamina, a good chin, is a good finisher, will 'tough' out a result when necessary and never gives up. I can think of worse foundations for a 23 year old.

Wallace i always respect your view and opinion on boxing topics, but like i said i saw it against the baldy guy last time out, i think he will struggle with anyone who has good technical skills, someone like Micheal Jennings i feel would beat him comfortably if they boxed him, he is 23 which is very yound he is probably 3/4 years away from being anywhere near the finished article, but when he beat the scottish bloke last time and quite a few people were saying he is going to be a world star, i just couldnt see it and defintly cant see it after in my opinion he was exposed against a guy who in my opinion was just if not even more ordianory than Anderson.
