he ALMOST and in many peoples eyes actually beat the greatest super middleweight of the last 20 years and knocked him down in the 1st round.

If you ask me the de la hoya win was more impressive than the complete blow out of trinidad. Felix was always a natural 140/147 pounder and got absoloutely blown out at way too big a weight.

Though de la hoya was too small a 160 pounder he still was able to punch above his weight and before the fight sparred with guys that were 168/175 pounders.

    1.Oscar De la Hoya
    2.Felix Trinidad
    3.Kelly Pavlik
    4.Glen Johnson
    5.Joe Calzaghe
I'm sure the thread starter was looking for Hopkins top 5 fights, basically his top 5 worth watching fights, The calzaghe fight is not a fight many people would like to watch.

One last thing...... how the hell can you rate a DLh at 160 as a better win than a Trinidad at 160 win ??

Trinidad moved up to 160 and destroyed the WBA title holder William Joppy in 5 rounds, Hopkins wasn't able to stop Joppy years after.

De La Hoya moved up to 160 and won a very questionable decision against Felix Sturm, De La Hoya looked overweight and should of lost.

Trinidad was totally the better win and performance.

de la hoyas move to 160 just seemed more of a natural progression rather than felix who im quite sure only had the odd fight at light middleweight before shooting up again.

They both moved up solely for the intention of beating hopkins. Had bernard of been a 147pounder im quite sure felix wouldnt of moved and oscar would of come back down for a shot at the guy who at that time was THE man.

The trinidad win always left me with the sense it was a great 147 pounder getting blown out by a guy who was just too big for him. Against oscar he actually had to adapt to oscars style and take him out!!
    one dangerous horrible bloke

Trinidad body looked great at 160 unlike DLH who looked abit overweight.

The thing with the Trinidad fight is, Hopkins never used his size to win the fight, He beat Trinidad using his boxing skills. His good jab, lateral movement, defense and counter punching won him the fight, not his size.

Hopkins used his size more against DLH especially as the fight went on, He was keen on getting on the inside of Oscar to rough him up.
