THATS WHAT ALL MY PAST POSTS SAID ALMOST TO A "T" BUT I'M SAYING FOR HIS MARKETABLITY... IT WOULD BEHUVE HIM TO TAKE A FIGHT IN THIS COUNTRY... BUT AGAIN, FIGHTING AN AMERICAN IN ENGLAND IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING... IT'LL BE TELEVISED. THATS THE GREAT THING ABOUT SATILITES

No July 8 opponent yet for Joe Calzaghe, but former IBF light heavyweight champion Glenn Johnson is said to be "in the frame." No contracts have been signed yet. Johnson would drop down to Calzaghe's super middleweight division for the fight.

I see this as a huge disadvantage for Johnson having to drop to 168...but you gotta go where the money is.

Calzaghe by a hard fought decision...maybe even a late round TKO...depending on the state of Johnson.
This is the stuff that makes me despise Calzaghe. His politics. Not making any excuses for Lacy's loss but he made Lacy come to England and then delayed the fight because of a broken hand, a broken hand in which he never xrays of and still made him come to England. Now he's negotiating a fight scheduled to take place 2 months from now AND demands a light heavy to drop in weight. It's such BS but Johnson will fight and he will be game, won't be enough to vanquish Calzaghe though.

hmmmm...."despise calzaghe"....like any good old fashioned welshman....at least calzo has the decency to polarise the boxing audience....is there anyone who is just neither here nor there in their opinion of him.

    And now, for the defence...
It might well be a huge disadvantage to Johnson to drop the extra poundage to get to the super middleweight level, BUT...it gives Johnson a shot at the belts, as opposed to a light heavy fight that would really be a glorified exercise to see if Joe could cut the mustard at light heavy.
If as the rumour suggests Johnson does come to super-middle, then it could be the toughest fight of Joe's career, as Lacy was meant to be according to all the top US pundits.

Oh yeah, and if no-one realises my allegiance....
    COME ON CALZAGHE!!!!!!!

I THINK IT WILL BE THE TOUGHEST FIGHT OF HIS CAREER... I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JOHNSON WIN. NOT CUZ I DISLIKE CALZAGHE, CUZ I DONT... I THINK HE IS A GREAT CHAMPION AND SHOWMAN(AND POLARIZE WAS THE PERFECT WORD BTW) BUT JOHNSON HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GREAT SPOILER AND I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM MAKE A RUN OF IT WITH THE CARDS STACKED AGAINST HIM... STILL HAVE IT CALZAGHE BY UD, THOUGH

It also makes way for johnson to scramble to lose 7 lbs in less then a month and a half.

And by "despise Calzaghe" I mean I'm a Lacy fan

I would love to see Enzo vs Haye but that would headline a card of it's own.

not going to happen....I have Joe Cal by KO in the 8th....I think Johnson will be too drained to fight at 168 and at his age could be similar to when RJJ cam back down in weight...
It feels good to be back home.

Well what on earth is that shit.... Is he going to unify at super middle then, is that his ultimate goal I thought he wanted to fight Tarver... If Tarver can beat Hopkins, he would only fight Joe at 175 and only in the US, he has said that. So if Calzaghe really wanted that fight he should definetly fight Johnson at either 175 or a catch weight... Glen Johnson, imo, became a much better fighter at light heavy, whether it was coincidential with experience and momentum or not, his losses are basically all at super middle, and he has a a whole bunch, to average fighters too. Johnson would be a great fight for Calzaghe if he was allowed to come in at his natural fighting weight, and it would obviously be a good indication of how he could do against Tarver.. Now Im not even so sure, Johnson is fairly old and I don't think this will be good for him at all. What a warrior though, I mean are you kidding me.. Taking the fight against Calzaghe on short notice, dropping to his weight in his hometown, when he has just as much of a name as Calzaghe does, or at least close. Ricdiculous.. If Johnson doesn't teach Calzaghe one thing in the ring when they fight, he can certainly teach him a thing or two about courage, imo.

    Agreed.

Johnson, IWO, has looked very good lately.

I was pretty impressed with him against Hall, Tarver, Jones, & Jones jr. He'll give Joe some fits...but in the end...I just believe that Joe can take him out.
No way in HELL does Joe Calzaghe stop Johnson IMO. Did you really watch the Hall fight? If so you would have a lil more faith in Johnson. Charles Brewer, whom I was a fan of, and old Charles Brewer at that, went the distance with Joe Calzaghe. Now Calzaghe nut huggers, if Joe was a hard puncher and unbeatable God like you claim, then how the hell did Brewer go the distance? The mand was a real warrior and former champ, but he was chinny as heck too. Calzaghe if he was half as great as you claim he is should have been able to take out an old Charles Brewer.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

KO charles brewer im sorry mate but brewer came to fight that night he took some good shot s alot of fighters would of went down from and all credit to brewer that fight but he wasnt good enough. you talk of should of's... mike tyson should of ko BD , Lennox "should of" ko mcall ..etc.. etc
at the end of the day calzaghe cant knock down everyone and anyway calzaghe doesnt even one punch power it his accumalation of relentless punches that does the damage they usually get stopped.so just research the facts before you make the judgement lol
