Erik may be washed up but we knew that after the Raheem fight. He would still give Marquez a good fight but Marquez is fresher so would probably win comfortably

For Morales to get a 4th fight with Barrera I think there would have to be a title on the line. Then it would be the 1st time in history that 2 guys met moving up in weight each time for a world title. My money would be on Barrera

However Erik is younger than Marquez and Barrera and they are still fighting regularly . Erik has been well rested too so Id welcome a comeback. Only problem is making the lightweight limit . That division has a history of high profile fighters failing to make weight.

JMM is at a point where he is making only meaningful fights, a shop worn semi-retired Morales doesn't qualify.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Does the definition of "meaningful" include big paydays?

JMM now would murder Morales! The trilogies with Barrera and Pacquiao have left him way behind. They were all gruelling and Morales took the worst of all of them.

5-6+ years ago I would have had my money on Erik to win comfortably though!

Yeah no kidding, he is about as shopworn as a fighter can possibly be really. It's a shame he's just such a stubborn and proud man that as long as he can get out of bed on his own accord he'll keep telling himself he can win big fights. I realize this isn't rare in boxing but how badly does he need to get bludgeoned before he accepts that it's over, yeesh. Any good the layoff could have done him will be pretty well nullified by diminished reflexes and who knows if he can even make the weight at all. You've got to wonder whether he is being coaxed into this, I really hope he has some people that would level with him well before any real negotiations come around.

no disrepect but these mexicans all seem so old because they fight so much and start so young, thats why i always think eric is like in his 40's

i heard hes coming back cause hes bored watching over his business.....lol

Although I love Morales, I think he's a totally washed-up fighter. He's just taken too much punishment in the ring, which, of course, is unfortunate.
That being said, I think a full medical evaluation including an M.R.I. of the brain should be performed prior to giving him any chance to step back in the ring.

This guy has been in many wars and taken many blows all in the name of entertaining the fans and that he did but I personally don't want to see him get hurt. Marquez is really too much for many people let alone Morales. He's had his day but if he gets hurt, they'll be many nights he wishes he just retired. Let us remember a great fighter and not one that made the same mistake of coming back without all his tools.
