I'm pretty sure Warren gets to renegotiate the terms of Khan's contract if he loses two fights during it.
The chronology went like this :
Khan's first contract finished and Warren offered him a big money second contract to beat out offers from elsewhere.
Khan got starched in 54 seconds. Maybe there was one fight in between signing the contract and Prescott but essentially Khan became worth much less commercially just after he'd signed to Warren for big money. Warren's initial reaction to the sparking was illuminative in this respect.
Khan then does another Sky PPV against an Irish roadsweeper.
Probably the numbers were so bad from that PPV/ticket sales were rubbish so that Warren was stuck with the fact that Khan against a no name isn't going to cut the mustard for Sky PPV customers and paying punters. He can only do it with quality opposition, hence Barrera. And if it's true that Khan's contract can be renegotiated if he loses twice then it's a win-win for Frank. He does a big promotion and makes lots of money. Khan either wins which gives him credibility and makes him worth his contract or he loses and spends the rest of the contract fighting for relative buttons on the undercard of Warren's shows.
