A Hatton win would be the best result as far as I'm concerned. The excessive Pac hugging has turned me from finally managing to like him to just wanting him to lose. Though being a Hatton fan might be something to do with it too. Ahem. But you are right to object to any nonsense about Hatton being P4P No. 1. It's not a tenable argument and Hatton himself should stop saying it. He would be back in the top 5 IMO, maybe another top Hatton win would send him further up. But beating Pac is not enough for any silly top P4P claims.

On consideration I do not think many Hatton fans on here would even make such exaggerated claims. The win and a decent standing would more than suffice.

    Agreed.

I too wish Hatton would stop saying he's fighting for Manny's P4P title, it's not like the Ring belt is it?

I wonder if he actually believes he'll be P4P No1 if he wins. If he followed up a Pac win with a JMM win then only then could he even be considered as No1. And even then I feel he'd need to beat somebody else of note to be P4P king.

Only way Hatton gets to P4P1 is if he beats Pacman then JMM.

Yeah, a win over both Manny and JMM might put him there. Im still cynical though because I see both Manny and JMM as smaller guys stepping up which perhaps detracts a little. Definitely way up on there though, another big win then no doubt its his position finally. Take a lot of hard work that though!!

If he beat Pac, JMM & then Cotto or Mosley, he WOULD be P4P #1 for me. Can't see it happening though

I concur, we are not all nut hugging Hattonites but support our guy in a respectfull way, Ricky's not the second coming, he has his faults, and fights with his heart on his sleeve and always give's it his all win or loose and thats what we ask for, an honest performance. If Ricky wins he won't be pfp champ just top five max, then if he can move on and beat JMM and another top 10 pfp lber he may have chance at being in that position, its a lot of ifs and buts and somthing for discussion in the fall or later

For me Ricky has all to lose and nothing to gain in this fight where as its a win win for PAC....

if Ricky wins... big deal he beat up a little guy.
if he loses... i would say hes finished.

if pac wins... hes moved out of his comfort weight and beat the best...great achivement.

if he loses... no biggie IMO

I've considered myself an unbiased boxing fan, but gotta admit, the silliness of the pac spam has gotten to me. So I now hope hatton sparks out pac, and that won't change. I don't think it will happen, I think pac will win...but I HOPE Hatton sparks him the fook out.

I was telling Saddoboxer the other day that all his pro Pac threads were actually doing Pac harm. Kind of ironic really.

Well said, my friend. Whereas I've yet to read a disclaimer from a Pac fan saying he wouldn't place Pacquiao a micro-notch below God if he were to beat Hatton. Which of course might eventually turn me against Pac as well. Only reason I've hung on to some sort of Pac-fandom thus far was his humiliation of De La Hoya, whom everyone here knows is not on my Christmas card list of fighters.
