haha well Im with you there. Yesterday my boss is telling us about the 50% off we get on our food we eat and I laughed, so he asks me, "What's funny?" Not wanting to seem a prick right at the get go I said "oh nothing, sorry" Then he asked me a bit later when I was by myself what that was about, so told him "I appreciate the discount, but a pile of shit is still shit, and taking 50% off the asking price doesn't exactly sweeten the deal. " lol thankfully he has a sence of humor and directed me to some of the "healthier foods" they serve.

I'm surprised you would complain at so many restaurants Al, I mean that's not very 'British' now is it? Maybe CFH is right...

Seriously though, I've only ever had the balls to complain once in my life. I waited close to 2 hours for a steak at a local pub due to it being so busy. My complaint was born from the fact I'd drank 5 - 6 pints waiting so I felt all brave!

Got a full refund on meal though!

I'll complain about the food if it's off, but only once did I complain to management about the waitress. That was when I'd had a long day on the road, and I pulled into a hotel for the night. The restaurant was empty, but they served me an expensive meal nonetheless. Certainly there was lots of time according to the sign on the door. I guess the waitress was kinda anxious to go home though, cause she ran the vacuum cleaner around and under my table as I was eating my dinner.

We had a thing called split the bill here in the news papers ,you'd collect a few bills and if you turned up with a crew they'd split the bill in half.
HAd some great meals but one night in a so called upper class resteraunt we had a dog of meal. Us lads were about to walk out and turned to see the ladies al yelling and holding the bill up and others in the resteraunt we starting yell abuse too anyway we went back to the counter and the boss was all full of excuses and said it was his cheifs fault. So we all trundeled off into the kitchen and sure enough this bloke in checkered pants is slumped over the bench pissed as a maggot and the dishies are doig all the work

Scene out of Faulty towers ensued with other guests walking out etc , we walked and threw rocks at the place too.
Great night, still gets talked about.

I have another story but you probably wont belive me.
I think I told it here once , about a stay in a hotel in Sorrentto me wife and i won from the local kindergarten raffle.

Was years ago got the kids baby sat, turned up there after reading in the brochure that theres a heated pool ,tennis courts ,pool room, alacarte menue,5 acres of gardens etc etc.

After beating our way through the over grown bush down the pathway got to see a tennis court with ripped net and shit growing all up the sides.Ablack hole in the ground full of black water.
The joint looked worse than faulty towers but just as big. Rooms were bare but ok. dinner came out and the advocardos were so hard you couldnt even get a spoon into them ,the prawns were out of a can this was just for starters! Forget the meal. we go to the pool room,a ripped pool table 6 x4 with a couple of ,cues snapped and a broom stick handle which worked better than the cues.

We took off down the street and bought take away, chocolates, champayne etc and went back to our room and partied out for the night.
when we got back the joints locked up and noone can here us knocking ! So we get a ladder and climb up to the top window thats open and yell in it cause the tv room is there ,so we eventually get let in.

A couple of yuppies turned up and we tryed talking to them but they snobbed us! They were in the room next door to us.
Anyway we made a right mess of the bed, I mean it looked like murder had been committed as it was a miss time on something if you get my drift.
(My misses is so embarresed about it all funny stuff. (the hotel knowing which local kinda we were from etc is more embarresment)
Any way next morning my dopey misses goes for a piss or something and she comes back along the top verandah opens the window and flashes me through the window..Trouble is Im not behind that window Am I . Im behind the next one along . Shes flashed in the yuppies window instead!
    Now shes even more embarresed!

It gets funnier, I go down to the breakfast room to see if I can get something nice. the trays are nearly empty and the yuppies are right behind me so I clean up all the trays thining we are getting out this place asap.
so Ive got our eggs and bacon on the trays drinks etc all over to our table and race upstairs to the misses to tell her we got the last of the meal.
as we leaving our room we notice the yuppies room is vacated so we looked at each other smiled ,raced back into our room got the sheets off the bed and changed the whole lot over with their nice looking ones ,then went downstairs and ate our breakfast in front of them while they waited for the non service.

I worked fast food for one day, I spent the whole day sliding around the greasy ass floors in the back cause I didn't have the right shoes and then they stuck me up front and didn't tell me how to do anything, I'm trying to make some kind of fucked up milkshake with candy bar pieces in it, I stick the thing under the milk shake blender thing and it just goes nuts, its the most powerful milk shake machine ever, somebody complains about things taking too long and I just walked off.

I don't get why anybody would work at fast food unless there are just no other choices. If you're in high school or something, get a job at a grocery store, its much better.

    Bit off topic I guess.

I hate bad tippers and people that are quick to complain, itching to complain, a lot of times the people who do that are real chicken shits in real life but since they know a waiter or whoever has to put up with it then they're quick to show how tough they are, but that doesn't make complaining wrong in general, if the service is just horrible then its okay.

I say go for the managers. Nine times out of ten the people who people bitch at aren't at fault. I got annoyed as shit with this women at the grocery store who was acting like an ass to this teenage cashier girl about some price problems, I told her she was acting like an ass, do you really this high school girl has anything to do with price changes? Then she started yelling at me at which point I chuckled.

    That was long winded. Fuck.

yeah, I used to get it when i worked in a Cinema... people knew if they complained that they would get free tickets so you'd get people looking for any excuse.

Sorry ma'am but the only way I could have shut that noisy group of charvs on the back row up quicker is if I'd killed them before the film had started.

I hate it when people complain to cashiers too... unfortunately some people are just stupid/feel the world hates them etc so they will complain to some spotty 16 year old behind a till that coca cola is too expensive... because obviously he controls the economy/giant corporation that prices things.

I tend to just agree with the customer and tell them to go somewhere else! These jobs are just so disgruntling... i'd do a harder job for more money if it was more fulfilling... just s shame there aren't any... since getting laid off as a gym instructor a year ago I have managed to get ONE interview at another gym and the position was basically taken... it's policy that they have to interview. The interview must have lasted all of ten minutes.

Not going to start on about the fire service, passed all their tests... just a shame it could be YEARS before I actually get to start.

So you aint got a job now mate ? Damn thats pretty harsh. Findng a job nowadays is like pulling shit out a rocking horse.

Even when I went to my interview for my current part time job (Asda) there was people with degrees applying, yes to put fucking pork pies on the shelf. It's a sad state of affairs at the moment. Luckily I got the job and £6.35 an hour tax free isn't bad for a 17yr old as I need to pay Car Insurance and money for going out, clothes etc so until I leave school I'm stuck with it.

Got know problem with complaining as long as it's STRAIGHT to the manager.

The staff in these places (I should know :-/) are usually stressed and over worked and understaffed. They'll have had unrealistic demands put on them by some out of touch manager who will be giving 1 staff member the amount of work of 2 or more.

The problem is that whether it's so save face to the staff or whether it's because their too stupid to realise it's not the staff 'under performing' (on the minimum wage that they are earning) it's an unrealistic work load causing problems... the manager will probably just wait till the customer has left (after being all friendly, sincere and apologetic) before coming down hard on the staff.

    Cunts...

So yeah... fair enough complain but don't take it out on the bored staff who are usually there whilst they're at college for their beer money etc... they pretend to listen to you and then drift off to happy land/think about boobies etc... then they'll probably just take the piss out of you for the rest of the night (good for morale).

Better to take it out on the manager if you want to get pissed at somebody.

you're already working at age 14? Pardon my asking but in my place, we hardly accept workers age 14. am I mistaken with your age?

you're also choosy for a regular adolescent. good for you. you don't eat junk foods.

I could never work in a restaurant. I would no doubt quit in a day. I have a total hatred of the general public and their wanton stupidity.

And no poor waiter wants to taste the wrath of the customers just because the managment and chefs suck. Yep, call out the manager every time and burn his or her hair off with unadulterated rage. And if that fails go into the kitchen and bash the chef on the head with a frying pan.

The fact of the matter is, I lied to get the job thinking I had to be older then 14 (I'll soon be 15) as few do hire until 16, and found out on orientation day that isn't true. At 14 you can be hired by law here, but that it is required that they contact ones parents/guardians in such a case and it is then fine.

That's not a bad number for a 14 year old mate!

That's my problem, although I've got other stuff happening I've got as much to show for it at the moment as you do!

Not disrepecting you, like I've said that's a great number for a lad your age but if you were on the same rung of the ladder at 22 as a 14 year old despite the ambition and work you've put in over the years you'd no doubt feel the same!

Try not to lose t because you lied about your age etc.
When I was 14 I had nothing and was content with it, but once you've been paid you'll never be happy with nothing again :-/

Yea thanks Adam, I already came clean with my boss, and he already talked to my dad as they had to sort out my S.I.N. number also. So I am okay there.

You sound frustrated with being there at present, but hopefully your hard work will pay off for you. Well I hope for sure it does. One thing I've learned from boxing is that hard work pays off. It may take a while to get there, but feel and hope it translates to other things as well. So good luck my friend.

Hey, I guess we hijacked CFH's thread eh. haha oh well, now that I am cooking am sure the complaints will be rolling in soon against me.

When did Wendy's start paying 9.50 an hour? Fucking Canadians. Do they hire a girl specifically to give out handjobs to the grill team too? Fuck. 9.50? Not like its a lot in real life but its not real life, its Wendy's.

I'm still in my twenties but I remember when the minimum wage was like 4.75 or something, maybe 4.25. Fuck I'm old.
