Back on topic, I don't want him back whatsoever.

He's just a loud, arrogant prick who ducks the best.

I don't mind arrogant fighters so long they back up there talk, but Floyd doesn't. He states he's the very best, so fight the very best, simple as. But he doesn't.

His blatant ducking of Antonio Maragrito was pathetic.

Instead he chooses to fight Ricky Hatton who ain't even a welterweight, a shot Gatti, shot Mitchell, mentally unstable Judah, plodder Baldomir...you can see where this is going.

    When there's prime Berto's, Clottey's, Cotto's, Mosely's around.

I hope his ass stays in retirement.

So if he comes back and hypothetically fights and beats JMM and Pac, you'd see it as him continuing to beat up on smaller fighters and be disappointed that he didn't fight Mosley, Berto, or Cotto instead?

I'm not necessarily challenging your opinion, I just want to clarify what you mean in the context of this thread.

JMM is untested at 147. I doubt Mayweather would fight him at Jr welterweight. So if he fought and beat JMM at 147 he wouldn't get my credit no. As Mayweather has/had a clear advantage and JMM is not a natural welterweight.

Pac I would give him credit for, I mean yeah he is bigger than Pac but Pac has fought at 142, and he looked good, not drained etc. So I doubt 5 more pounds would do harm to Pac. But again, Mayweather is picking on the smaller guys.

What I meant by those guys I listed is I want him to fight a natural welterweight. A decent one too who would be a challenge. Unlike Carlos Baldomir

So you'd give Mayweather credit for beating Pac, because Pac fought once at 142 against a lame DLH, after fighting only once at 135. But you won't give Mayweather credit for beating Hatton, cause Hatton previously only fought at 140? Damn, What I'd really like to see is PAC fight Hatton at 147, cause then you would have to not give Pac the credit if he won, cause he's more of a natural welterweight than Hatton?

I wouldnt underestimate Floyd......He is a technically sound fighter and would give Berto, Cotto, and Margarito all they could handle........and Floyd would win these fights I believe....

I'd welcome him back too, like most people here as annoying and arrogant Floyd can be, he's still an amazing boxer and any fight with him in would get instant attention. Like Leftylee says, I'd give him more credit for beating Pacquiao than Marquez, although I'm sure either would be decent fights.

And if we ended up with Margarito v Mayweather somewhere down the line, who would get more boos?

I don't thing we'll see him in the ring again. Not in professional boxing. If you listen to the radio promotional interview he says he's sitting on $600 million. If he is truely worth all that, there is no good reasons to. He already as the image and can brag about his accomplishments. If he returned to the ring it would have to be against someone he could actually beat with the amount of inactivity he's had and have enough draw for him to risk a blemish on his record.

Mosley - to tough, he might lose a 12 rounder.
Pacquiao - to dangerous, might get a lucky shot in.
Marquez - to dangerous & not enough draw.
Hatton - Might have learned something from daddy (maybe if he beats Pacquiao)

Nobody else to consider because there's no draw.

What people don't want to say is that Floyd himself is not a welterweight. Hatton is bigger than Floyd but Floyd can do much better giving up the weight advantage than mostly everybody else. Thats why it doesn't get talked about. His physical ability makes up for the size difference. If he had struggled like Hatton did when he went up to welterweight than people would see the size difference as relevant but all in all Hatton is really a bigger guy than Floyd. His natural weight is 170s, Floyd's is 150s. Floyd really belongs at 140 and could still make 135 but he doesn't have to or want to. The money is much bigger at welterweight and beyond. But I think it would be a bad move for Floyd to take on a guy smaller than him. He has the most critics, sometimes warranted, and will have to do things other fighters don't have to do. If he does return I think he needs a tuneup though. And maybe that would be a JMM or Pac. But then would have to follow up with a Mosley or Cotto. Even though I am no Floyd fan I do realize that it doesn't matter what he does he will never get the admission of just how great he really is. He is so unlikeable and this forces people to deny all the greatness they see in him.

This question has been answered before the last ten of mayweathers fights...of course not. Jmm is just the current david holding the rock simply because he is the last fight we've seen....he snatched it from pac and someone else will snatch it from him the only thing for this sport floyd could do to please people is loose...and it doesn't matter to who or what weight class (some would have got a hard on even to see him loose to the big show) other than that you're just waiting for the next opportunity to complain about the guy while he pulls out your wallet and slips 60 more bucks out of it. I still say wanna prove your the shit then one of these guys step up and take on paul williams that i'd be impressed with.

You are correct. You've pointed out the double standard, we've seen it here before.

Alright dude if Mayweather ahd fought Cotto and Clottey back 2 or 3 years ago then people would just be complaining that he didn't fight them in their primes.

They'd say Berto wasnt ready, that Clottey was untested and that Cotto is a much better fighter now.

Although timelines are selective when it comes to boxing fans who have selective memories.

They would be the quickest to say if Mayweather beat Cotto that Cotto is a much better fighter now and it would be different, but they would be the first to say that Mayweather isnt the best because of the Castillo fight and that Cotto would beat him for the same reasons..as if Mayweather didn't become a better fighter after that fight either.

Once Mayweather beats someone then another name will pop up.

And I can guarantee you if Margarito beat Floyd instead of Cotto, and then this whole glove controversy came up after the Mosley fight, NONE of the people who talk about Mayweather would try to dispute Tony's victory like they do for the Cotto fight.

That said I don't want Mayweather to unretire. He should be a fighter that you should appreciate when he is around and if you didn't, when he is gone you missed out on a lot. Lot's of great fighters have come along and yet their greatness was never enjoyed because boxing fans decided to hate them.

So for the fans who enjoyed Mayweather when he was around, hats off to you, for those that didnt, its their loss.
