Answer: when the live opponent had a bigger reputation and brought more money to the table than the american world champion and the american world champion was untested and unheard of outside of his home base.

With that said, credit to Froch for taking a tough fight as his first defense. At that weight, Kessler surely didn't.
I'm really interested to know if any American has fought abroad for his first defence. Froch could just as easily stayed at home and made easy money filling out his 10000 seater arena in Nottingham but he isn't.

I don't like Froch at all but you've got to give him credit for doing this.

In this economic climate, could he really have filled a 10000 person arena fighting an irrelevant boxer? If Froch wins this fight, he gains a ton of notoriety, increased leverage in negotiations, and a broader fanbase. It was smart in either way really because if he loses to a former undisputed middleweight champion with a recognizable name, he still will gain notoriety and a fan base. If Taylor waxes him, well then, that's a different story.

Taylor has boxed a total of 55 rounds against 2 hall of famers and the current middlweight champion..

Froch went life and death with Jean Pascal

    Taylor will comprehensivly outbox him

I don't see a huge difference between Froch and Pavlik and if Jermaine shows to Froch what he showed to Pavlik, then Froch could hand him a KO here. Like Pavlik he has a strong chin and solid punch, although admittedly his punching power is not as tested as Pavlik's and Froch's defence is basically non existant.

If Taylor plays it smart and makes sure he uses his technical ability which is far greater than Froch's then he'll probably get an easy decision, but, as with any fight, no one knows, which is the beauty of saying whatever you think on here, cos no one can be called dumb til after the fight

Either way it'll be an interesting fight, don't think I've seen Froch in a boring one n Jermaine has had a lot of gooduns, styles make fights

styles make fights JT JT doesnt like come forward pressure fighters, which carl is. Just because he has been that many rounds with good fighters why does that mean he will beat Froch?

What you say doesnt mean anything in that respect, JT doesnt like live fighters like this and hes going to get stopped

Your right. Styles do make fights. Fraud stlye is made for Taylor. You really think Fraud's come forward with his hands down style will work against Taylor? Taylor will break that big ass nose of his with his jab. Taylor is to skilled for Fraud. Fraud has a lot bad habits. But he's been able to get away with them cuz his opponents were crap and couldn't take advantage of them. Taylor can. I would love to see Fraud throw that lunging uppercutt of his and see what happens. Taylor in a blow out.

In this economic climate will they fill a casino function room even with $200 ringside seats? Even though I think he'll lose you've got to admit that voluntarily making the first defence of your world title away from home against somebody everybody expects to beat you isn't something that happens every day. On the night I'll be cheering for Froch even though I think he'll lose.
