I had to leave this out because of space restrictions:

    Boxing

The first boxing match in Puerto Rico was held on January 15, 1899, and the first Puerto Rican to win a world title was the great Hall of Famer, Sixto “El Gallito” Escobar, who beat Baby Cassanova in 1934 to win bantamweight belt. Sixto was never knocked out or even taken off his feet during his career. He was inducted into the Hall’s Old Timer section in 2002. His career spanned the period 1930-1940. Much has been written about his life, but I’ll leave that most interesting story to be told by other boxing historians. Suffice it to say he remains a beloved figure in Puerto Rico and after his death in 1979, the town of Barceloneta honored his memory by a statue.

But when one discusses boxing in Puerto Rico these days, certain names always come to the fore,. Names that remind us of the espléndido y magn*fico tradition of Puerto Rican boxing. See above

Congrats to Rocky Martinez, a slow starter but heavy handed finisher, unlucky Cookie, he just seems to fall short at top level.

This is the same guy who drew Luevano right. If it is. I think is great to watch. Not necesarily a great in the level of the fighters from PR mentioned on this thread, but certanly a very good and very entertaining fighter.

PS he should've beat Luevano. He let that one slip away...

Well done to Roman "Rocky" Martinez, obviously I was supporting Cook but when I saw him get knocked down and immediately after the count, star flying back in with punches I thought "why are you doing that to someone who obviously is hard enough to KO you when you've just been knocked down and not recovered!"

......silly move by Cook when he should've bought a few seconds to recover, but well done Rocky, I look forward to watching him in the future, maybe take on Humberto Soto if he successfully defends his title later in the month

I hope that we continue watching Rocky for some long time. He is a really exciting fighter. For those who had not watched previous fights I recommend to make a search and try to see him fighting, if you want to have some fun. He shows lot of heart, and you will see him on the canvas, but returning to destroy his opponents. His fight with Daniel Jimenez was very entertaining, and there are a few more recent fights.

Yep,he should have definitly "run rabbit run" for a while to get the cobwebs out of his head,I dont know what he was thinking coming back in and trying to go toe to toe.I mean you ended up on the canvas for a reason, give yourself a chance to shake it off.Piss poor training really,he should have known to stay out of the killing field for a bit.

El Fenómeno has fought a lot of guys who have fought a lot of fights. That should bear some fruit in terms of giving him great ring savvy. I like him a lot.
