    Default Boxing Insurance

So I had my first spar today, anyway i got a bloody nose and i can only inhale about 20% from that nose, i dont know why the fuck the trainer threw me in with this guy whos been sparring for 1 year. We were the same size physically, but hes fitter than me and more experienced. He's a good guy, but for some reason when he spars he doesnt take it easy, like he was belting me literally, i was scared to throw a straight right because it would just piss him off more LOL, seriously.

Anyway, I'm not from a rich family like a lot of other guys that play sports, I need to know does the boxing gym or Boxing NSW association, cover health stuff when you're hurt, for instance a broken nose.

Private health care is fucked, I just need to know if any guys here who train at boxing gyms are covered, let me know guys.

sorry, Canada here with the free health care.

I can't see gyms covering injuries like that though no matter where they are. It is just so common I would imagine the rates would be through the roof for that sort of insurance.

You may want to have a word with your coach if you are feeling like a punching bag and ask to be matched up a little better to start out, or put in with someone even more experienced who will have more control and help you get comfortable with sparring.

the guy should have control, probably why they paired you with him, if you're a punchbag then the coach ain't doing his job OR you have been unlucky to get tagged OR they guy thought you were taking liberties and decided to give you a clip up the ear (or nose).

A: Your coach should know better than to put new guys in with someone who can't control themselves.

B: Are you a registered athlete with USA Boxing? (I assume you are in the US). If you are registered (and you are supposed to be if you are training, no matter what), then any injury that occurs in the gym, with a registered coach present, is covered by USAB's insurance.

Im guessing thats juzz wat happens your first time around...It happened to me.
Later on you gain confidence and start throwin more and that should keep him off you.

Ye its cool, I spoke to the guys who are above the guy i sparred in skills, he goes he'll spar me, but he'll go easy on me, so i learn. He said the same thing happened to him on his first session, saying that he got a bloody nose as well.

I'm re sparring again in a few days, him and the other guy i versed, so it should be something interesting to look forward to.

As for the insurance dilemma, the place im training at only has insurance for accidents in the gym such as slippery floors, etc like stuff that is against health and safety standards, but as for self inflicted injuries from sparring, it covers nothing whatsoever.

I guess i'll just have to keep looking for work and do extra shifts, its like $50(australian) a month for insurance, which is fucked considering its the cheapest price there is and im a student.

Bernard hopkins had it hard, I guess I can't go to heaven unless I go through hell first.

Thanks for all the post guys, if any of you need dieting help, to put on size or lose weight, just private message me.
