Oh yeah by the way, let me explain how I am making a fist and you can tell me if this is OK.

I clench all my fingers as if I was squeezing a little rod in my hand, I clench them tight so there's no space there and the knuckls line up straight for the most part, then I put my thumb over the fingers, the thumb pointing towards my pinkie. My thumb ends up perpendicular to my fingers. I don't know how to describe it better. maybe I should take a picture.

One thing I noticed is sometimes after hitting the heavy bag, the lowest joint at the base of my thumb gets sore. It seems to happen when I squeeze too hard with my thumb and it pushes my thumb too far down towards my wrist, to where my thumb is then the thumb joint hurts. It doesn't seem to happen when I wear heavier gloves. Also if I make my thumb slightly less than perpendicular to the fingers, so it is angled slightly towards the front of my fist, the pain goes away but it feels awkward since I'm in the habit of squeezing it to perpedicular position.
