Im guessing this is a look good fight for Roy because its in Pensacola his hometown. Would be nice if it was some sort of farewell fight. But according to Roy in interviews he intends to try to win another world title even at 40.

it will be truly sad if rjj loses again....the guy has a ton of cash so I dont think he is doing it for the money.....I think he cant let go....
I think he sees what Hopkins is doing at 40+ and is wondering why he can't do the same given that he beat Hopkins all those years ago and considers himself the better fighter.
Well, when he went up and down in weight for the Ruiz and then the Tarver fight he shot himself. He took away about maybe 5 or 6 years of his career. Hopkins even when he moved up the same kind of way he did to 175 didn't come back down. He stayed around the 170 zone for the remainder of his career and has never gone lower. He didn't drop 25 pounds because he knew it would take his legs take his etc away.
Roy took care of his body his entire career but that move down basically ended it maybe about 5 years shorter then it could have been.
It has nothing to do with his status as a great fighter, he shot his body, and it's not been the same since.
But Im thinking Roy doesn't see it that way and probably is gonna keep going until he wins a title or beats Hopkins again.

I agree. He sees other fighters from his generation still having sucess and he hasnt been able to hae as much. Roy has gone almost an identicle path as De La Hoya. Both guys took off all that weight after going up in weight and both suffered because of it. He must see Hopkins, whose older than him, and it must be incredibly frustrating. Especially when you consider Roys ego.

For certain it is becaus he can't let go...I seen him in an interview and he feels he has really never been betaen...Not just excuses but really believes that...This was a bit before the Calzaghe fight....
Jones is o exception many many fightrs who had great careers sufer the same fate....
I just hope he wakes up before he gets hurt...A loss to Sheika would really be an embaressment for him...A bigger embaressment then the one sided affair with Calzaghe
