Great upset win. Glad Dunne proved me wrong. I was surprised how regular he kept hurting Cordoba (i assume he is alright ). Dunne's loss to Martinez was just an unlucky blip considering how limited Martinez has looked since.

As for getting the title fight, a part of me thinks it should have gone to Munroe, but as Bilbo said, a good promoter and fan-pulling-power means more than results sometimes.
Munroe was offered the Cordoba fight and he turned it down.
What should Dunne have said, "no thanks, I will wait till Munroe grows a pair and takes the fight".
Where did you hear that? I haven't seen anything to that effect to be honest with you, and the Munroe camp did seem disappointed the shot had gone to Dunne rather than himself.

Either way, Dunne proved he warranted that shot.

Superb fight and tremendous heart by both.

The smaller Irish weight classes know how to spoil us. McCauley vs Bassa, McGuigan vs Babrera and now Dunne vs Cordoba.

The momentum swung back and forth and the shots both absorbed in the fight were tremendous. Not a fight for the feint hearted. Knockdowns, cuts, lowblows the lot.

Superb atmosphere aswell. Well done Bernard.

Well so far this year, I think this should be on the short list for FOTY.
Personally I liked JMM/Diaz more, but this was a phenomenal display of heart, had a great ebb and flow. You really can't ask for two fighters to do more in the ring, they left it all in there. What was the final tally 6 knockdowns?
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Middleweight contender Andy Lee (17-1, 13 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Alexander Sipos (19-6-2, 9 KOs). Lee floored Sipos in round six and went on to win 99-91. Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7

I've not watched the fight yet but it sounds like it was a great win for Bernard Dunne. Guess it shows that chinny guys can beat world champ's after all.

Dunne is on the most exciting fighters to watch out there imo and I think it's great for Ireland, surely of of boxings most passionate nations to have a real world class talent to cheer for. Can't wait for this to appear on the net in decent quality later!

Donny did you go in the end mate?

It's hardly ducking someone when you have the opportunity to fight a much bigger fight.

Which ambitious fighter in the world would turn down a world title shot to fight a domestic rival?

Dunne did great, he's proved himself to be world class, he has a passionate fanbase and is great for Irish boxing.

You should be proud of him Donny.

Watch yourself, this has the sounds of hate.
