very bad stoppage for the 2nd week running (cook-martinez last week)

For what its worth the interview went along the lines of..........

interviewer: You told us your last ever fight would be in pennsacola, does that mean this was your last fight..

RJJ:Well i dunno....does pennsacola wanna have me back....

    (ovation)

RJJ:Then i guess i better get back to the gym because im coming back...

That suggests he means another fight in pennsacola doesnt it??

I thought Calzaghe answered that for him.

Don't get your briefs in a twist Ross, mellow out.

You wont find me playing apologist for Roys reign and some cushy opponents afforded him while other tops were ignored. But past it,is past it and you can see this leading to another drubbing.I was saying that prior to his loss to Calzaghe

I dont know if Roy is shot or not, proir to his fight with Joe C Roy looked good against the 2 fighters he faced.he did go the distance with Joe so what`s that tell you,if Roy was as shot as some suggest,or if Calzaghe was as Great as some would suggest, surely he would have stopped the O`l Boy,...Fact is,...He did not,....I really cant tell with Roy anymore,....I mean last night his body looked much better, and he looked to be more fit than he was in the Calzaghe fight.I have noticed that his body has looked very incosistant since his move up to Heavyweight,...Sheika on the other hand looke like,...I dont know,...like shit,I hardly recognized his fat ass.

Sheika was Def the right guy for Roy last night, but haveing said that,...his speed and skill looked to be intact,Roy caught A few punches and seemed to take them well,....I guess we will see how it turns out.

Question,...would you pay to see Roy and Hopkins fight A re-match?

    I would.

Roy is old and on the downward slope, but in truth he's till better than all of the middle tier.

Jones can not only operate there quite safely, her can also make a lot of money in doing so.

Good win Roy, you're an athlete and a half

If Calzaghe was a puncher Jones Jr would probably have been stopped. I even feel that Calzaghe went easy on him down the stretch.

Jones was always going to look good against Sheika, even at 40. Jones really should be retiring, but he won't. At LHW I don't think he can hang with the top guys anymore. I don't see the point in fighting Hopkins again either. Jones already has the win over him, why would he want to suffer the indignity of losing at this stage to Hopkins? Though if they did fight, I would be supporting Jones. Thats not saying much though.

I'm not interested in seeing Jones nor Hopkins fight anyone TBH. They should really retire with their wins and their dignity intact.

Calzaghe could of stopped Jones if he wanted imo he just toyed with Jones after the 2nd round onwards.

I think if Roy wants to keep fighting on and has the fitness to continue then good on him...
If you really want to see a fighter who is continuing on in the game much longer than most people would suggest, download 1 or 2 of Pernell Whitaker's last fights... He was in with guys who he would have taken out in 1 or 2 rounds max in his early days.. And lost in his latest fight due to shoulder injury.. But he wasn't trying to be on top of the world again.. He just wanted to continue to compete in the sport he loves..
To continue to train hard for fights is going to keep them healthier etc and gives them something to aim for and live for..

It's clear to fans that Jones isn't even close to what he once was, and that's just age and no fault of his,,, and it's kind of playing with foolishness to aim to be on top of the boxing world again,,, but if he can evenly match himself with fighters from here on in and he's doing it for himself then there is really no harm in watching how an old great handles himself when a lot of the faculties that once made him brilliant have all but disappeared..

He was great for the sport for many many years, and as long as people puts his fights in perspective and realise he's not back in the ring to try to climb the pound for pound rankings again, then we can enjoy his return a little more..

If his comparison is with the current top guys at his weight, of course the conclusion that he should just retire and get it over with is a fair statement.. But it's two totally different games going on when a Jones of today steps back in the ring,,, Compared to the game of title shots and prime fighters...

I personally wouldn't hate a Hopkins Jones fight.. If Jones got back that will to let his hands go, it would be quite exciting..

[edit :] I mean, exciting in measurement of fights involving Hopkins.. :-)

If Jones fought Hopkins I don't think we will be saying what a great fight I think we'd be saying what fight. This would and could be the most boring fight ever if it happend. Let's be honest Jones did win the first fight but you couldn't tell me you didn't fall alseep in like the fifth round. If this fight would be signed we would see the whole fight looking to jockey for position and then the round would be over. All and All about 30 punches combined in the fight would be thrown and all the s**t talking in the world after the fight. For the love of god do not sign a contract either of you. Do us a favor please

I would like to see Roy Jones v B Hop but only if they agree it will be there last fight. It will not happen.

I think B-Hop would ruin Jones tbh. I would've liked to have seen them fight about 8 years ago
