Joe could have knocked jones out but carried him to the end of the fight. Calzaghe purposely didn't ko jones when he easily could have. Calzaghe held back.
Calzaghe could barely land anything clean, and most of the time he only did so by throwing unorthodox punches that because of their design carried no weight behind them.

I know his fans still have faith, but mine is gone. Jones did the same thing against felix, looked okay but against top competition i don't give him much of a chance anymore. He'll probably get another big fight against someone older than he is....but for what ?? The fans...sure i guess. But as far making a real dent in the sport anymore i don't think so. A b-hop match-up a couple of decades ago would have been nice but a fight now just gives either guy a million and a half excuses for why they lost afterward if anything.

Before I say absolutely anything I got to see the fight vs Sheika

I think the only fight left for him is a hopkins rematch.. and I would give my left AND right nut to see it. The only problems I see is roy jones demanding the larger share of the $'s (as he did in the original proposed rematch) as one last big payoff before he retires. Although this time around I think Hopkins would deserve the bigger share... or maybe even a equal split.

I think he should go for a Woods rematch
If he beats Woods in style not only has he legitimately jumped the rankings to actually earn a shot but Woods name is quite recognisable to the casual fan now I think, so its a fairly marketable fight that actually means a bit.
Do it in the UK and make a mint on the gate from the UK fans that never got to see him live, then at least he can say he travelled![]()

His old legs cant keep him off the damn ropes. Hes still good in the center of the ring, but hes been laying on the ropes too much for too long now. Thats not going to change, and neither will his sucess at the top level.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
Yeah because cuts can't be caused by glancing blows? In fact its more likely to happen from a glancing blow, how often are cuts around the eyes caused by cleanly landed punches? Its usually the cuff or the seem of the glove that cause cuts like that, or a glancing blow which was Calzaghe mostly landed. Roy landed more flush punches than Joe did, it just wasn't enough when Calzaghe half landed twice as many punches.

He's not shot.
