I'm as critical about Abraham's opposition as anyone, but who was he supposed to headline against in America? There are no marquee fighters at 160, aside from Pavlik, and I can't see HBO being interested in promoting a Abraham-Simon/Abraham-Demers type bout.
He came over and headlined against Miranda, in Miranda's backyard, granting a rematch because of a controversial fight. That was pretty much the only name fighter he could get which would drum up any interest in the States and even that had to be at a catch-weight. There are few to no viable "headlining" options for Abraham in the States. It makes perfect sense that he would stay in Germany unless it was for a big fight, rather than be an undercard fighter in America for comparatively small amounts of money.
