Roy Jones Jr.
Roy Jones Jr.
Find me one example of a weak shot hitting Roy Jones and KOing him or even hurting him.
Both times that he's been stopped have either been from an accumulation of massive punches over lots of rounds or from massive shots right on the jaw. He was also arguably weight drained.
Not to say that Jones has an iron chin or anything but it's always been trendy umongst fickle sheeple to say he has a glass jaw. because he got stopped twice in a row.
Lennox lewis had a iron chin? Why because you say so? Because he got hit by Vitali and didnt go down? That only shows you how pathetic Vitali is doesnt it? Who has Vitali knocked out in his career besides third rate journeymen who if they fought in the 70s wouldnt even been a top 50 fighter. Vitali ko percentage is what it is because of who he fights. Even then it takes him 10 rounds of punching somebody who doesnt punch back to stop them on their feet.
Mercer was the only person who kept Morrison down and that was after he punched himself out. It wasnt a one punch knockout was it? Lennox Lewis couldnt keep Tommy Morrison down and Michael Bent didnt keep Morrison down. Lennox Lewis got knocked down and stay down. That is a glass chin. Shannon Briggs tapped him with a light punch and had him staggering all across the ring. The same Shannon Briggs who couldnt even come close to hurting 50 year old George Foreman
So if Lennox Lewis has a iron chin then what does Foreman have? The chin of a "God" then. Lewis chin was glass get over it.
Everyone brings up Wlad Klitschko but defends Lennox Lewis. This seems to be another case of trying to make a legend out of a fighter that is retired.
Are we talking about chins or stamina? Most of Wlad's problems come from stamina problems/punching himself out and not being chinny. I have never seen Wlad sparked out cold like Lennox Lewis.
People that mention Roy Jones must have just started watching boxing around the time he fought Tarver. They obviously havent seen much else of his career, Jones fought Toney, Hopkins, Virgil Hill, Montell Griffin all in primes and was never down or hurt.
Good points about Lewis but wrong in the Wlad explanation though. Wlad was sparked by Corrie Sanders. Sanders who career was based off knocking out Wlad. None of the punches he landed were earth shattering but they were good enough to blow Wlad out of the water. If Sanders would of never fought Wlad he could be considered a nobody but to defend Wlad people act like Sanders was one of the most skilled and hardest punchers in the last 30 years. In Reality Sanders was nothing more than a C level fighter at best
Wlad was hurt by DaVarryl Williamson another glass chin fighter who got starched in one round by the overrated Joe Mesi. Yet he was able to take Wlads punches and hurt him with a grazing blow. If you can touch Wlad with a half way decent punch you can hurt him not matter who you are. His chin is even worse than Lennox Lewis.
"El Toro Salvaje De Las Pampas" Firpo anyone?
He hit the canvas 7 times in the 1st round vs. Demps.
He also hit the canvas 4 times in the 1st round vs. Angel Rodriguez.
GeorgeForeman8 and brocktonbluckbust....while you guys try to explain your points of view you just come up lacking in your arguements.
Yes Lennox Lewis did have a decent chin, getting KO'd twice out of 44 fight isn't that bad considering who he fought and who he beat...he was never hurt by David Tua or Mike Tyson.
Wladimir Klitschko doesn't have the greatest of chins, however, he doesn't stay down...also Corrie Sanders wasn't just a power puncher he is also a southpaw which not many people see at heavyweight. Wlad doesn't have the worst chin...not even close. Tommy Morrison got railed by MICHAEL BENNT!
Michael Moorer doesn't even have that bad of a chin....he was KO'd 3 times: George Foreman...refresh my memory, was Big George a power puncherDavid Tua, definently a power puncher, also caught Moorer at the tail end of his career. Also Evander Holyfield, a guy who has underrated power and a heavy workrate...he KO'd Tyson a guy with a seemingly good chin.
I say Primo Carnera, Andrew Golota, Ken Norton, and Michael Grant have worse chins.

Would argue about Bruno having a weak chin, someone here correctly pointed out he could take a shot just froze and didn't know how to hold and take a breather. Look how many shots it took Tysone to get him out of there, ref had to jump in coz Frand was rooted to the spot !!
Errol Christie from the 80's , great amatuer record but crap pro when he got tagged.
yeah, he was usually saved by the ref out on his feet/the ropes.
it was more of a mental thing with Bruno
Well maybe Bob Satterfield, but he also had some of the greatest power in either hand in the history of the sport. He chilled or got chilled and that made him one of the most exciting fighters of his or any other time. I am biased here because he was my all time favorite in terms of excitement. It was said that getting hit by "Rapid Robert" was liike getting hit with a bolt of electricity.
