Hopkins gets away with a record as bad as Joe Calzaghe's.

his middleweight reign had no significant wins - all his greatest wins were smaller guys coming up (apart from Tarver).

That Amir Khan is genuinely world class.

That the best fighters arn't actually that much better than their rivals and can all be beat on a given day. The idea that this champ would ktfo out somebody else for example is usually just not true.

For example I don't believe Juan Manuel Marquez wouldn't dominate Amir Khan. He would most probably win but he'd find Khan an incredibly awkward and difficult opponent, much faster and bigger than anyone he had previously faced and he might not even be able to adapt and could lose on points.

Another view that is seemingly unpopular is that to me being an exciting crowd pleasing and crowd pulling fighter is worthy of something in and of itself. All this talk about Khan not deserving Barrera, Haye not deserving Wlad, Dunne not deserving Cordoba etc is absolute bullshit. These fighters are exciting to watch, can pack a stadium and have shed loads of fan support and consequently they can turn a world title shot into an amazing event. Boxing IS entertainment and therefore those that entertain the most SHOULD be rewarded.

I think William H Macy is a much better actor than Tom Cruise, an opinion that would be shared by many I'd imagine yet it didn't stop Tom getting all the blockbuster roles. Pure talent isn't the only criteria that makes somebody succesful you have to have star appeal and as boxing, like the movies is all about entertainment for us paying fans I want the big fights to feature those with star appeal.

Juan Carlos Gomez may have been more deserving than David Haye of a world title fight but he only make ESPN Friday night fights, whereas Haye and Wlad if held in England would get a crowd of 50,000 + and be a massive hit on HBO PPV.

It's like the difference between going to a packed cinema to watch War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise or sitting at home and watching William H Macy's 'He was a quiet man' that you rented from your local video store.

Macy's film might even be better but 9/10 people won't be watching it.

Jim ....'BIG RIGHT HAND' (that missed)... Lamply is the most pretentious, self righteous fan boy horn blower of an announcer that I have ever heard.I can think of no one that makes me throw things at the screen more so,,,,,
O'Grady....nope,Sheridan....nope,Nick Charles......nope......I'd even take Big George over him .The man just makes my ears bleed.Take your every night HBO biggie fight, listen to Lamps, then replay his call exchange by exchange slo-mo after he bellows forth ..........Half miss and /or the other fighter was landing as well.

Yeah your right,Beating other title holders, like Holmes and Joppy isnt signifigant.
In the unification tournament, the only one who fought all of the other 3 belt holders, and beat, all 3 of the other belt holders was Hopkins.
He also destroyed the destroyer of Roy Jones Jr,Glen Johnson when he was undefeated.
Antwun Echols, won a round a half with only his jab
Kelly Pavlik, well we all saw what happened
