Dont know if they are komodos but out on the islands of indo they grow to around 8 feet and can run you down no problem.

Couple of my mates got dropped off by a boat onto a wrong island to surf for a week and had to sleep on the beach with no food nothing because the island they wanted the locals look after you for money.
They killed a giant lizard with rocks and poles and ate it and the locals wouldnt go near them. Fucking white surf devils .
