Default calzaghe has officially ducked TBA

THE FOLLOWING IS OFF THE AP NEWSWIRE:

Calzaghe fight called off after he injures left hand

LONDON (AP) -- Joe Calzaghe called off the July 8 defense of his WBO and IBF super-middleweight titles after re-injuring his left hand during training.

The unbeaten Welshman was hoping to follow up his thrilling victory over Jeff Lacy with a sellout contest at Cardiff's 75,000-capacity Millennium Stadium, although no opponent had been named.

Promoter Frank Warren said Thursday that Calzaghe, who has made 18 world title defenses, had re-injured the left hand he broke against Evans Ashira last September.

The injury also flared up during his lopsided decision over IBF champion Lacy in Manchester on March 4.

"Like everyone else involved in the promotion, I am really disappointed that Joe has had to withdraw because of this latest injury," Warren said. "After medical consultation he has been advised to rest, so we are looking at Joe returning to action in the autumn."

some time off.....better or bigger training gloves....that will extend Joe C's career....I think it will help Joe immensely....I don't know why they didn't switch up the gloves...or up the OZ's on the current gloves....
It feels good to be back home.

I think koe realy wanted to fight, a credible opponent and win some more titiles.

After beating Lacy, you would want that, this is his time to make the money, and time is runningout.

Maybe he ahs ducked this fight, but not cos he was scared propably cos he wants a better fight, and is propably thinking the rest will help his hand heal proparly.
