YG. There stance is wider/square for a reason because their front leg is a target for kicks and takedowns. The same way in a boxing stance the front leg/knee would get the snot kicked out of it (unless your footwork is good and you understand range).
Ya Missy, I understand why they are wider. Last summer we first had these pro MMA guys show up at our gym for stand up experience, and I knew a few of them were really good and was shitting myself a bit before having to spar them. The point I am making is that I found out then because of their need to be wide, and even if they are good at their sport, that square wide stance is a huge disadvantage when it came to pure boxing. It surprised me how much of a difference it actually made in both their defence and effectiveness in striking.
