The Bears gave up too much for Cutler AND he has nobody to throw to. Cutler has a good arm, he is hit or miss though....he needs a good running game to support him and a good defense. He's better than Orton or Grossman but I am not sure he's the cure all for the Bears....now if he was on the Vikings or the Panthers then yes they would be the best team in the NFC but the Bears....eeeeehhhhh, I'm not sold on them.
Chad Pennington doesn't have a strong arm but having a strong arm doesn't make you a great QB....Ryan Leaf could chuck the ball like 80 yards but he was faaaaaar from being a great QB. Joe Montana didn't have a great arm he just knew where the WR's were and read the defense and made the plays. Michael Vick has a strong arm but he SUCKS...yeah, I said it, Michael Vick sucks...he never was any good at being a QB, he could run but he couldn't read the defense and he could make the difficult passes.
And Jake Delhomme....I hate him...I wish we had MY BOY David Gerrard (ECU Alum.)...that dude can sling it! He's the best of Byron Leftwitch and Michael Vick and none of the bad stuff.

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

The bears gave up too much for Cutler? You are crazy.....the guy is a proven pro bowler that holds the Broncos record for most yards in a season and has only been a starter for 2 years (even though Elway played there for 15 years).
The bears last 5 of 8 1st round picks were BUSTS so to say we gave up too much for a proven champ is crazy. TOO MANY FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS ARE BUSTS.
So Cutler is a cry baby? So what was John Elway and Manning? Both of those guys were babies and said they wont play for the teams that had the first round pick if they draft them........ALOT of the great players in the NFL are babies.....
Cutler has a MUCH better chance of being a star in the NFL than the two picks we gave away in the draft.....

I'll say this if you are a GM and feel pretty damn certain that you can get a young pro bowl QB to build a team around then I think you pull the trigger.

Always liked the Bears. And Cutler, whatever else can be said about him, has the tools. If the Bears defense performs to its normal standards, and the running game continues getting better with Forte, I can see good things happening for the Bears in 2009.
The Bears still need a good WR to help out Jay....Torry Holt, Plaxico Burress, Chad Johnson....anyone will do.
Elway didn't throw the ball as much as Cutler because Elway's teams had balance. Also Denver's defense sucks ass right now too so they had to come from behind quite a bit as well so they abandoned the running game.
I don't doubt Cutler's talent, I question the talent that surrounds him in Chicago. Orton could on the other hand fit in well with Denver depending on what the coach wants to do.

Exactly right. Unless you're running a west coast offense, you wouldn't normally be throwing as much as Cutler did.. Even though they had a decent running game with there 10 running backs last year, most of the offense relied on Cutler to get them back in games.. Elway had plenty of weapons AND a good defense in the years that they won the super bowl, so the balance of running/passing/already ahead in the game or not far behind, resulted in less responsibility for him to throw the long ball or to throw in general.
I'm a big bronco's fan, and i can't be more pissed off about this whole off-season.. first shanahan, now this..
Cutler is an above average QB, and with more experience he could become elite. He made a number of mistakes this past year, and just needs to iron out his game..
You used to not have the QB, now you have the QB and don't have anyone for him to throw to...it's the virtually the same problem. In Denver Cutler had Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, and Brandon Stokely...those guys are pretty good when you compare them to Rasheid Davis, Earl Bennett, and Devin Hester.
The Bears needed to sure up their defense more because they aren't what they used to be and beyond that draft a big play WR.

Comparing Cutler to Elway? Cutler couldn't carry John's jockstrap.
"If there's a better chin in the world than Pryor's, it has to be on Mount Rushmore." -Pat Putnam.
Elway also had: Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey, Shannon Sharpe (one of if not the best TE ever), and 2,000 yd rusher Terrell Davis.
So although Elway was a great QB, he also had great players around him. No QB's really do well without a good supporting cast...Marino and maybe Tom Brady (pre Randy Moss) have done great without really great players around them.
Even Brady before he had the big time weapons he had a great pass protecting line, he could just sit back there and look around.

I agree - So why doesnt elway hold the Broncos single season record for yards passingCutler does, has only been in the leadue 4 years and didnt have the weapons Elway had....
I am not saying he is better than elway by any means but that is an impressive feat....
Orton was a terrible QB, I watched all of the Bears games I dont think you did.
All I am saying is the bears had a chance to pick up a YOUNG QB that has proven over 4 seasons he has the tools to compete and be a top 5 QB in the league, that is worth 2 1st round picks in my book. It is a much better gamble than the two first round selections we would have gotten.
