Isn't it better to just prohibit guns? The BBC was saying Mexico gets most of its guns from the US too.

Too many incidents like this are taking place all too frequently.

That is a skewed stat Miles...Most of the weapons used by the cartel are in fact manufactured in the US..then sold to the Mexican Govt for its military...then find their way to the Cartels...This of course is always left out.

NY State has some of the strictest gun laws in the country by the way. The guy would have been gunned down in Texas by law abiding citizens with concealed carry licenses

It's still a minefield though. I really don't approve of governments selling weaponry and arms to other governments. Israel takes the biscuit with that! Though of course, it is everywhere.

I still look at this country and see zero gun crime. There are no guns here. It makes sense.

If a country really feels so strongly about being able to own guns in the home then fair enough. These things will continue to happen on a regular basis. All I can do is to ensure that I don't live in the U.S.

    National crime rates compared

guns or not your crime rate isn't really better.

now I'm sure this pales in comparison to the US but I guess there are guns in the UK

I'm English but don't live in the UK. The UK is going to the dogs too. No, wouldn't want to live there either!

The UK does sicken me because I actually really do love and have a fondness for the place. I'm not happy with the obvious social and cultural decline that's been going on for too long however. Makes me shudder.

There are reports of 150000 Mexican soldiers deserting in the last year and taking their weapons with them. The 90% number that gets thrown around is BS. 90% of the weapons the Mexican govt returned to the ATF were manufactured in the US. I mean if your a billion dollar cartel king who needs to arm your thugs are you really going to go through trying to squeeze maybe a dozen at a time through the US border or import from Chinese/Russian manufactures who are cheap and have less red tape. Hell with FARC in Colombia just to the south why go outside Latin America at all.
