As great of a job as Dana White has done marketing UFC and making it a household name, he needs to step down IMO. Dana White is the Stan Van Gundy to the next Commissioner's Pat Riley....I think a new commissioner would use the current status of UFC to promote talent, skill, instead of just personalities and make the UFC a legitimate sports franchise (like the MLB, NASCAR, NHL, NBA, and NFL) and without the fear of it just being gimmicky or trendy or a "fad". In order for UFC to take the next step, I think Dana White needs to get out of the driver's seat...but that's just me. IMO he doesn't have the personality to do much other than promote or manage, but he has done a great job thus far in branding the UFC.
That's all I have, and I will admit that despite the foot stomping and grappling there are some good matches and very good talent in that group and at least their heavyweights come to fights in decent shape....we can't say that about boxing recently

I don't get in stupid arguments about which sport is better, I enjoy both. Lyle may have but not me. Comparing sports as to which one is more entertaining or requires more skill is just childish. I also find it odd that you seem to tie intelligence to socio-economic status. So poor people people are not smart enough to graspt boxing? Empirical or not unless you can provide such a study its nothing more than your elitist self righteous opinion. When you do your research make sure you compare college educations of MMA fighters vs Boxers as well. I'll say again what difference does it make though? I guess golf must be the best sport hands down b/c its fans by a percentage come from higher economic status and conversley are just more intelligent![]()

I didn't say there was a correlation in status and intelligence, I am saying that boxing has MMA beat in both categories.
But you are right. It is a stupid argument. However, I think boxing has some of the most diverse fans of any sport ever. It is hard to stereotype boxing fans, as Lyle is able to do pretty with accuracy with other sports.

Booze, in all honesty I think boxing seems to have the advantage over MMA when it comes to NOT being trendy. I know there are fighters and fans of MMA who really truly respect the sport, I just get tired of the guys with big attitudes/egos....a little bit of the stereotyped MMA fighter/fan goes a long way for me.
But there are a couple of things that UFC has done FAAAAAR better than boxing in recent years and I hate to say it but Dana White is part of the reason.....I think he's a total prick but he's done a fairly good job with UFC. Their fighters train properly and come to fights in shape (for the most part) and tonight boxing has a heavyweight matchup between 1 guy who is 6'3 255 and another who is 6'6 271....and I am certain their body fat % is somewhere around 14-20% and if you were to compare that to 2 heavyweight contenders in the UFC I am certain those guys would be in better shape and the same comes to marketing....boxing on the whole has gotten lazy. Lazy fighters, lazy marketing, and it has lead to lazy fans or fans who have switched to MMA.
I do have to give credit to MMA/UFC when credit is due and right now it's doing a damn fine job because of and inspite of it's asshole commissioner.
....even if the stereotypes are true. I may watch more UFC or MMA as the years pass but I will NEVER: wear an Affliction t-shirt, get a tribal tattoo, or have those ugly ass cauliflower ears
