Default Can the winner of Williams v Skelton be the next WBA champ?

So the word is that the winner of Danny Williams v Matt Skelton may get a shot at Valuev

Now we all know Valuev's limitations, but I still can't see Mr Kipling or Skelton beating him!

Anybody think they have a chance?

i think skelton could beat him, he takes ricks, doesnt mind taking shots and has good stamina and ok pressure, but i could just see danny freezing like he did against viltali. danny not even throwing, just getting picked apart. i cant see the fight getting made though

Although hardly the second comming, Valuev knows his limits, and fights within them, and unlike say a Michael Grant, uses his physique to his advantage.

Williams is the complete article, a great boxer, excellent power and an amazing athlete.... whilst training!!! . Apart from the odd fleeting glimpse of potential, Williams has never shown the ability to put a truly top class performance together for 12 rounds, which he probably would need to do, to beat Valuev.

Skelton gives it everything, in every fight, he fights in fifth gear for the entire fight. And as he showed against Danny in their first fight, he will pretty much do anything he can to win a bout, by fair means or foul. But although he would give it everything, sadly, he just does not have enough to beat the big Russian, IMO.

Danny would come in 280 against Valuev and Skelton would get DQ'd

Danny does stand a better chance if he comes into the fight prepared but Skelton is more reliable cuz hes always in shape .

Skelton vs Valuev This would be an ugly maul and a scrappy fight . Matt would do well early cuz of his workrate but the size of Valuev would start to wear him down . Combine that with Skeltons age and its hard to see him jkeeping a hard pace for 12 rounds . His chin has always been reliable and I doubt Valuev could land a shot clean so its likely to go 12 . After an ugly fight Valuev retains on points .

Danny though if he came in 17st + and motivated could skool Valuev and make him look bad . Dannys jab would control him and his speed of combination would confuse the Russian . More realistically though . . .

Danny vs Valuev Danny would probably come in too heavy and be a sitting target . His legs are too slow to get him into range and he is pounded from a distance . As he struggles to cope with Valuevs strength he gets marked up and cant get out the way of the punches . After 8 rounds he begins to breath heavy and by round 10 hes flat on his back and the ref stops it . Valuev TKO 10

as long as DW doesn't follow the stupid mentally he followed for Vitali (bigger = better...) he has every chance of winning in my book.

I agree....I think Valuev is getting better with each fight and if he gets serious who knows what he will be able to accomplish.....plus neither of those guys are championship quality...Williams freezes when the pressure is on and Skelton is...well....Skelton...
It feels good to be back home.

I think Skelton is the more likely to upset Valuev, Danny would lurch around on the outside and get jabbed to bits, Skeltons human mudslide act might be just what the Dr ordered to topple the beast
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Would love to see Skelton ploughing into the beast, would be much more interesting than Willaoms imo.
