it just proves that titles do mean squat......Lennox Lewis held the IBO and Oscar De La Hoya held the WBO title and they where regarded has the best in their divisions at that time. I think all of the above fighters stuck their fingers up at the 3 big sanctioning bodies and told them where to go......I think it was down to how much a fighter pays towards sanctioning fees and who was mandatory.....the fighters could make more money going it alone cause they knew they could set up a real fight without the sanctioning bodies dictating who where and when.

I wonder how much money it would cost to buy out the major sanctioning bodies and put them out of business? Because that is the only way to get rid of them. Its going to take alot of money to clean up the sport of boxing and I don't think we are going to see anyone do this ever. Even though Oscar could probably buy them if he wanted to.
