I agree, Bilbo.
He stopped his opponent and in a non controversial manner. You can't beat that at the end of the day. We all know that Taylor can box and do it well when he is focussed. He won a good 10 rounds against BHop in 2 fights, he boxed well in spots against Winky. And he was able to win a fair few rounds against Pavlik in his 2 fights with him. Taylor is no mug and when he gets his jab going is a difficult opponent for anyone, until he falters that is.
Froch too had difficulties with him, and was way down after 6 rounds. But to be fair he persisted and began to catch Taylor more and more as the fight went on. Much like Hopkins and Pavlik in the first fight. And as the pressure was applied Taylor began to meltdown. Or was it becuase he gassed, either way it doesn't matter at the end of the day.
Froch needed the knockout and he got it. I say well done to Froch for getting it done in the end. I think Kessler is the man at 168, but he seems to be having issues staying active. I don't think Froch beats Kessler, but I give him a shot at most other fighters at 168. He needs to let the Calzaghe thing go, that's just becoming tiresome now.![]()
