I like the fact that Manny and Ricky have enough respect for each other, that they need their trainers to b**** with each other to hype the fight!![]()

Roach is one of the most level headed and reasonable trainers around. He's gotten a high profile from the last 2 of Manny's fights, but he's been highly regarded for several years now.
I have never seen him give bad advice in the corner, stop a fight way too soon or way too late. Overall, I really respect Roach.

i agree, i think it has a lot to do with the fact that he knows just how bad a fight can hurt someone, and the effects it can leave, there is no doubt that Roach has Parkinsons due to the way he would fight, and the fact that he didn't have someone like himself in his corner who cared enough to save him from himself, and avoid taking permanent damage, the way he stopped the Penalosa fight and the way he went about stopping it shows this clearly, he told Gerry hurt him this round or i'm stopping it the next round, Penalosa didn't come close to hurting him, he stopped it, Roach might talk crap sometimes, but he always gives a fighter his dues

I think Roach is pretty solid, really cannot understand much of his instructions as of late but using his own career and style of fighting as a measuring stick...he now certainly knows what not to do.
You can really say that about Papa Mayweather as well I suppose.Like a mouth full of marbles that one.
