Default - What happened to Brahim Asloum? -

Was outclassed by Parra & Narvaez in both of his shots at titles...

He beat Reveco in 2007 to finally capture a title in the Light Fly div. all I've read on him is that he's in recess but nothing more then that.

For those who don't know Brahim captured a gold medal for France in boxing at the 2000 Olympics. Really talented guy but seems like it's all gone down now.

Was just curious if anyone has read anything recent on him.

    Asloum resurfaces, wins!

    By Gabriel F. Cordero
WBA minimumweight champion Brahim Asloum defeated Humberto Pool by knockout in the third round on Monday night at La Palestre, Le Cannet, Alpes-Maritimes, in the southeast of France. The battle was the first appearance for Asloum since December of 2007. He has not been able to carry out a single defense after 17 months of reign. Asloum kept the fight at medium distance until the third round before landing some strong blows to the body of Pool that sent him down for the final count.

Good to see him back! Looks like he fought at 112 but can still be a factor at Jr. Fly!

I was recently wondering what the heck is going on with Jean Marc Mormeck.

He recently announced he will be fighting at Heavyweight now.

    Should be interesting.

Mormeck at heavyweight could be fun if he's active & fights solid competition!

As for Asloum, I still wouldn't mind seeing him in with Segura!!!

I'd like to know what happened to Roman Greenburg, that guy was destined to for greatness, or at least destined to be an opponent for Tye Fields or Baby Joe Mesi

Well, I'm surprised some of you know Brahim Asloum... so what happened to him ?

simply the French HBO tv (named Canal+) refused to pay the price for his upcoming bouts. They asked Brahim to reduce his salary expectations (even if they paid the same amount of money the previous years...).

Brahim was demotivated and didn't want to train anymore...saying he put his life in danger (and when you see at which weight class he fought for his body.it's definitely true). He had the feeling that the TV were ready to pay millions regarding soccer, but only penny for him...

so he's back, but I don't know if he still has the motivation...I doubt

Regarding Jean Marc MOrmeck, well I haven't seen him since a while, I know he sparred rounds with heavyweights ...

Yeah I remember he was set to face Segura then pulled out because of those issues. Hopefully that match can still be made!

I don"t know, brahim is a true athlete, but the last time I saw him he looked really like in a depression...

I don't know him personally, but boxing world in France is a small world.

Monshipour is back & looking solid!

I hope Asloum can get it together, he can still be a player at 108, but it may be wise for him to return to 112.

Well we know our boxing around here...
We know about the smallest fighters all the way to the biggest.

    Thanks for the info.
I could have sworn I read something about an injury.

I hope he recovers from this as he's def. a talented boxer.
I wonder if the option to recolate was there for him?
To the UK or the US...
