I'm especially pissed off with his high profile and how he's being touted as some sort of genius , he owns a big gym in Hollywood thats full everyday and that's it ! As soon as Manny gets beat and he isint flavour of the month he will fall back into obscurity .

Manny Paquio was a world champ before he went to Roach it's not like roach nursed him through the amatuers , he's very good at patting himself on the back whereas I bet there's a guy back in the Philipines that 1st taught Manny to throw a jab training kids in the same shithole for fuckall .

He's the latest Emmanuel steward a broken recod !

Great trainers dont get their face's on telly they work with kids in dingy shtholes and give up their time and often money for no reward , their are many trainers who have bought through numerous chamions but stay in the amatuers and keep their dignity rather than invite the TV into their homes for their latest soundbite and sob story .

All hail Freddie Roach saviour of Amir Khan .
Roach sure as hell trains fighters just as well as he talks, Manny isn't the only fighter who's career he has turned around, or have you forgotten what he did for James Toney? Roach revived Toney's career, helping him become Cruiserweight champion of the world by taking on one of the best Cruisers in the last decade in Vassily Jirov, although Toney wasn't as dedicated, Roach still got him to be a decent Heavy given the opposition he took on,
he's not that bad when he's worked with such fighters as

    Manny Pacquiao
    Bobby Pacquiao
    Steve Collins
    Virgil Hill
    James Toney
    Mike Tyson
    Bernard Hopkins
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Michael Moorer
    Frankie Liles (beat Michael Nunn)
    Roman Karmazin
    Wayne McCullough
    Peter Manfredo Jr.
Dimitri Kirilov (former IBF Bantamweight champion)
    Juan Carlos Gomez
    Rey Bautista
    Israel Vazquez
    Marlon Starling
    Brian Viloria
    Amir Khan

    even Lucia Rijker
    Key words.

All were established. People can take that anyway they choose. Either he has respect in the game so people seek him out & all it takes is for someone to whisper the right words in someones ear.

why didn't Oscar stay with him?

who did Oscar go back to? oh right his previous trainer the man who had him since he beat the snot out of Arturo Gatti at welter, Floyd Mayweather Sr., just cause one fighter, who at the point that he hooked up with Roach didn't really matter cause Freddie at that point couldn't really teach him anything new

I have no idea why Freddie Roach (or any trainer) would piss anybody off this much

Manny's improved dramatically over the years, Freddie's got to have played some part.

exactly, and what he did with James Toney only further proves how good of a trainer he is

I like Freddy I think he is a good trainer that really cares for his fighters. If I remember correctly he worked with the great Eddie Futch and helped Virgil Hill all the way to a title which has to count for something.

Freddie Roach is a mercenary with a Sob story !

How many of those fighters walked into the gym and then moved out !
It's just utter bollocks to believe that a trainer can change anything a fighter does in a few fights !

Manny Pacquio would be a great fighter any how ! He was born with greatness in him he makes a lot of mistakes still and yet get's through with guts and no little skill .
The trainer is a bit part player they have way to higher profile for my liking and it's gullible twats that believe Freddie Roach or any other trainer can suddenly instill in somebody something different .

A trainer cant put whatin what God left out and after 10 years of being a pro there's no way that a fighter or any other sportsmen can be made to change technique .

Mayweather I rate his son is an incredible boxer and clearly the best schooled fighter out there he's just short on fighting heart .

That's why all the professional coaches in the nba and nfl aren't worth a damn.

I agree with the fact that many fighters were already developed. But a great coach will get more out of the fighters.

Phil Jackson won championships with the same teams that barely made the playoffs. He's probably not good at developing a player from scratch, but he's the best at getting the most out of a team.

Look at Angelo Dundee. He didn't train Ali or SRL from scratch, he's just great at getting the extra "umph" out of them.
