i changed my mind after watching the margarito/cotto fight again. I had watched it the first time and thought that margarito landed a lot of punches and had dominated cotto, but after watching it a second and third time, i had it tied going into the 11th round. Cotto landed more punches than i thought and margarito missed more punches than i thought. it was a close fight going into the knockout round.

I don't think Clottey can execute the gameplan Margarito did.
Margarito has a immense workrate where Clottey seems to tire late in fights.
Clottey needs to apply controlled pressure on Cotto, not constant pressure and would need to use his lead right hand, one of his best punches imo.
I think Cotto will be too much though, His jab will be key in this fight.
Clottey is either intentionally or mistakenly leaving out that Cotto knows how to get in and out. What Margarito did, along with plaster, was put immense pressure no know but Paul Williams can replicate. Clottey can't outbox Cotto so he would have to either try to put this pressure on him for 12 rounds or catch Cotto with one that does change the fight. Clottey's peek a boo style will not bode well against Cotto. He will get in and out before Clottey counters. Cotto wins this by convincing UD.

Re: Clottey "Margarito Invented The Blueprint To Defeat Miguel Cotto"
(Too bad Clottey didn't take drafting in school.)

Cheating a side and not to over simplify things but Margarito's strategy was quite simply I can take more punishment and hit harder than you.
