IMO he beat Barrera and by a good margin, Cazares I was a bit close cause of the KD, but Cazares II was all Calderon, he easily outboxed him, and back to the Barrera fight, don't forget that he went to Barrera's backyard to give the fight
The thing about Cazares is... not only did Ivan fight the champ at a higher weight and beat him, but Cazares is the much bigger man. At 105, a jump in division tends to be more noticeable than at 160 or 168. I saw Calderon-Cazares II in person, and it was astounding to see how much bigger Cazares was. IMO, Ivan deserves all the credit in the world for those wins.
Totally agree & as I said he's one of my favorite guys, but some people thought he lost the 1st Cazares clash & the 2nd although Calderon boxed brilliantly was inconclusive.

As I said in an earlier post Cazares is the best he's fought (one many thought he lost, the other inconclusive) imo his record is not HOF worthy yet as beating one top fighter (the only guy at the top of a division that Calderon has fought) is not enough, but put a win over Viloria & Gonzalez on there & that changes!

I see your point, but to be fair there's less "household" names in the very low weights than at the more popular weights, such as WW and MW. It's rare to find the fighter ("Finito" Lopez is one) that can transcend being in the very low weights, and make people notice enough to warrant HOF consideration. That being said, Calderon has a bit more boxing left in him. Hopefully he'll tackle some of these big names you've mentioned.

Calderon's skills & the fact that he's remained unbeaten with minimal punching power will go along way towards achieving entrance into the hall, but a couple extra top names will enhance those chances!

mayol is a live underdog here. he's heavy handed and has good boxing skills and speed. calderon is elusive and would be very hard to find but doesn't have much pop in his punches. if rodel could get a few good licks in he might able to steal this one with a stoppage. he must feel very motivated for this fight coz i think he won't get another opportunity after this.

and on that note i pick Calderon to win a UD of 118-110 at the very least
