Six years later NOW Mayweather wants to fight Marquez. Pathetic.

I'm liking this fight but it's gonna be hard for me to see either of these guys lose - big fan of both. Marquez is definitely my favourite active fighter at the moment vs PBF who got me into boxing again since my childhood days.
Do people give Mayweather credit for beating Marquez should he do it? I personally think big props should be given because Marquez has shown his technical prowess time and time again especially against Manny Pacquaio - managing to negate his speed and aggressiveness.
JMM would of course get props for beating PBF - No doubt about that

I just dont like this fight.I think its perfect cherry picking by Mayweather, honestly cannot blame him for that, just dont like it.In no way to disparage Marquez and with great respect...but Mayweather is looking to springboard off his name/recent accomplishments & bitter rivalry with Pacquiao, the true & only goal is a ultra mega match up with Manny. What calculated timing.Marquez is finally reaching and receiving the long overdue respect and appreciation as far as mass media goes but he is in his twilight and coming off some very tough & taxing battles,Mayweather is looking for a rebirth after long rest.Mayweather is far removed from his lightweight days, and again sounding like the cynic but Marquez does not belong any where near 140.Not keen on it,love JMM and have always supported him, master class tactician and great but he is in for a very long hard night Imo.I can hear Mayweather with the comparisons already as far as his results vs. Mannys. And we'll eat it up![]()

He really should be fighting Shane but will stay away from the legit Welters and fight the lighter fighters at Welter. Tosser.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

I'll be rooting JMM. I think he's got an excellent chance of winning at 144. This will be a slow pace fight (but not boring) cuz they're both gonna time each other - counterpunch galore!

He may well have stayed in shape between fights while he was active but what about the past Two years tryng to be a celebrity?
Hes at an age now where its going to be harder to not only get in shape after being idle but also to drop the weight, especially seeing as this fight will be 3lbs below what he last weighed in.
It will make a difference in his performance, especially someone as sharp as Marquez but things may even themselves out with Maquezs age and the jump but then it didnt hurt Manny much

Floyd has never had a problem making weight, he usually had to work to put on weight... so 3 lbs isint going to bother him one bit... if he was trying to get down to 135 I would agree with you, but I bet he comes in about 144 or so... Floyd isint a fighter that is heavier than his actual proper fighting weight and then has to dwindle and rely on rehydrate.
I know you like to be right Ross, but coming from a guy who has followed Floyd his whole career, I can assure you we need to worry more about a plane crashing into his house than him being affected by getting down to 144
Floyd isint a real welter, never was and could have made a career out of fighting 140.. he moved to welter for 1 reason and one reason only $$$$$$$$$
