I consider Tyson: McNeely a tune up fight.
I consider Hatton: Lazcano a tune up fight.
I consider Cotto: Jennings a tune up fight.

Like Mick is saying, this is a little bit more than a tune up fight. PBF is playing all the cards in terms of making sure he has the advantages, but fighting JMM is no mere tune up.

Marquez has his back to the wall in this, but I really hope he manages to shock the world. I'm not making any predictions though because Bilbo says I'm the new Teddy Atlas, so I will stay away from that...

It's my principle not to totally write off a boxer... I've given Hatton 1% chance to defeat PAC when the odds of that fight was almost 3 to 1 in favor of PAC...

PBF is enjoying an almost 4 to 1 favorite status and I give JMM 1% chance of winning...

I don't think JMM can outsmart, overpower, or outbox PBF... They're similar in style that mainly focuses on counterpunching... PBF is a faster, bigger and better version of JMM...

It's a tune-up fight for me... but who knows, there were upsets that happened in tune-up fights...

I give credit to Floyd for taking this fight. I see him winning by UD, but think JMM is a legitimate threat.

Floyd is most entertaining fighting at 140 or under. He's not a true welter IMO and should the fight the best at 140 or stay retire.

I don't think it will be a boring fight because Floyd feels like, and is, the slightly bigger man. When he has the size advantage he actually walks/side-skips down his opponent instead of running like he does against the bigger guys.

I think Floyd wins but i think his overconfidence will get him uglied up doing it.

Both boxers are not in their primes.

    Fights to consider.

Mayweather vs ODLH (before he gassed) / vs Castillo I (several people gave that to Castillo)

    JMM vs Chris John

Before OScar gassed? Mayweather was still ahead, and it was more Mayweather actually started throwing punches than just Oscar gassing. Mayweather had that plan in mind the whole time which IMO didn't allow him dominate the way he could have because when he was throwing punches, he was too quick for Oscar to retaliate.

I know we're getting of topic here, but I really believe Oscar's pride ruined his best chance at victory against both PBF and PAC.

Against PBF it looked to me like he didn't want to win with just the jab; which he actually was IMO! I believe he just didn't think it looked good to the fans.

Against PAC he made the stupid and vain decision not to rehydrate. There were a couple of brief moments in the fight where he muscled PAC into the ropes and bullied him. If he hadn't been so vain, he could have used his size more to his favor.

Not that he would've won either of those fights, but I think he was maybe his own worst enemy.

sorry I saw no domination or speed advantage (punch speed that is) I saw Oscar neutralise Floyd and then tank in the later rounds allowing Mayweather in the fight. If fighter A stops punching it allows fighter B to throw.
Would have been closer and equally controversial as the Mosely fights if he hadn't tanked, an issue that's become more apparent as he's got older.

Other than Oscar, when has PBF fought bigger guys? Guys with 2-3 inches of height and reach on him and that come into the ring weighing more. It's not a rhetorical question. I'm curious as to when.

PBF has every advantage in this fight. I don't see how JMM wins. 4-1 odds are fair. JMM deserves the coin. He'll finally be paid super elite fighter money. Good for him.

If JMM beats Mayweather, it will only be a minor upset in my eyes, not a huge one by any means.

As you have seen yourself, JMM is incredibly smart and knows how to find a way to win any fight. Floyd has weaknesses also. Last going off he has become more lazy in the ring and more defensive instead of offensive. He was able to let Ricky pound on his gloves for a few rounds to tire him out, but JMM will find a way to break through his defense. I have no question in my mind about that.

JMM will have to somehow make Floyd's counters miss in this fight to win it though. Floyd is bigger than him and will most likely have enough power to hurt JMM and cut him up.

If Floyd does win this, it will be hard fought. I have no question in my mind about that. If he comes in taking JMM lightly at all, he will lose.

-Does Floyd still have that desire that he used to?
-Does Floyd still have the reflexes that he used to?
-Does Floyd still have the heart to continue fighting if JMM hurts him?

To me those are the real questions surrounding the fight. I know that even going up in weight that JMM will still bring most of his game.
