hatton is a good fighter, but not a great one, more heart than skill. he does not deserve to be in the hall of fame. the one thing that proves whether a person should be in the hall is precisely how he responds in the ring with greatness.

there is something worth pointing out about the fight: Hatton recovered from the knockdowns in rd 1 over the break between rounds and into the second round; what this means is that he got his ass kicked TWICE SEPARATELY, and in only two rounds.

That goes to show us all just how great Jmm is or was at the point when Manny did it to him and he came back with some boxing lessons for Manny while reeling.

You all know what? topics like that is what makes me think that Britts fans are the best ever; not only they support their fighters in a tremendous maneer and in a way that would shock most peoples with the sings and incredible ambiance they brought but they are alspo so humble in defeats, classy. I am a fan of both boxers but I predicted Pacman would ko him around the seventh, I got mocked a bit in a friendly way by the Hatton's legion and wow, class, humble in defeat. Really Britain, you remind once more why I liked my time spent in England; gallant peoples. I am sincerely sorry your boy got knocked that early, I would have loved the hell of a battle and a correct defeat, the hitman deserves better. Now if he doesn't retire, I hope he'll bounce back in a tremendous way because thereš only one Ricky Hatton.

Cheers...surprisingly I haven't heard you talk much about the fight. Are you as shocked as me and Miles ? I'd love your view on it, just don't rub it in

Sorry for the delayed reply mate but here's my view of the fight...

Yes I was surprised like everybody else regarding the early KO... I'm predicting a TKO/KO inside 5 rounds...

I think Hatton has the wrong frame of mind from the start, since the time this fight was still in negotiation... Hatton thinks he's the favorite coz he's the man at 140, the bigger and stronger boxer... He thinks he's more popular coz he has 35,000 fans flying over the Atlantic just to see him fight... This was manifested when he won't budge from a 50-50 purse split offer...

Reality sets in to Hatton but it's too late when it's only days into the fight... Hatton was bitter when most boxing experts, writers, and opinion polls pointed to a PAC victory and writing off his chances of winning the fight... Hatton was bitter seeing the odds opening more almost installing PAC as a 3 to 1 favorite 1 day into the fight...

Having "Pride in Battle" tattoed on his back for this fight, Hatton approached the fight riding on that pride... He wanted to show who's the man, who's the bigger and stronger man... That's where he got it all wrong because PAC is truly the better boxer overall and that leads to his early downfall...

    I think if Hatton already considered PAC a very dangerous opponent from the start, he could have prepared for it properly and approached the fight with more caution and more defense... But what we always hear from Hatton were;

"I'm the bigger and stronger guy..."

"This is my house, I'm unbeatable at 140..."

"People were reading too much on Manny's last fight..."

"I will be the best pound-for-pound boxer after I defeat Manny..."

I wasnt shocked as i predicted a pacman blowout.
The simple fact is , i dont get caught up in the patriotic bullshit like so many boxing fans. This doesnt blinker your view , was as simple as this ---- a very good fighter indeed in Hatton vs A GREAT fighter in PACMAN.

No shocks here at all , Hatton has thrilled us many times and i wish him the best for the future.

Props to you... I guess it's only you and Coach Roach who wasn't surprised with the 2nd round KO... Even Pacquiao himself said, he was surprised too...

It would have been a big shock if anyone did cause they would have lost and lost BAD.

P.S. Its nice to see hatton's fans showing class and giving credit where credit is due

That's a nice thing to say ! Have a beer on me anytime you dear dear individual ! Don't think it's entirely true ,there are alot of good people left in this country and many are on this forum , I dont think Muggie Mug wankers stay too long here by the looks of it , everybody was behind Hatton but nobody was gonna put their house on it .

I had £35 riding on Hatton and I'm a mug punter I bet with my heart rather than my head , I said I'll go with Hatton but with absoloutly no conviction .
In the pub on sturday night the nerves set in , i was asked and I said Pacman because of his speed and being a southpaw , never expected anything like that though!

Hatton is a good bloke he is a working class hero that's not cliche that is fact ! He's the man in the Pub ( quite literally ) the man touching your bird up at the bar , the man with a England flag flying from his Mercedes Sprinter, the man at the snack wagon talking about the football and what the weather is gonna be like !

He might be a fat little Manc with a dodgy haircut and an Ashley Peacock voice but he is a hard working extremely skiled sportsman who made the most of his ability !

Loved by all and never forgotten ! To Ricky a pint of Guiness and a Baileys creme chaser.

I reckon his mum must've been a right sort at one time , ferocious yet a cuddler.

It has already been three days after that great fight and people are still abuzz and seemed to have not yet recovered from the hangover brought about by its "unexpected" outcome. I myself have browsed from one website to another trying to get insights from different people and their reactions and when I get to this site I was welcomed by remarks of Hatton's supporter who even in defeat showed class and unwavering support to their boxing icon.I am a Filipino and I really admire how british are behaving themselves in situation like this. If its by any consolation, Mr. Ricky Hatton shouldn't really feel that bad after all knowing that his people will not leave him even in the darkest day of his career.

If you would read some of my previous posts on the fight , i actually said PAC TKO 1 , so a second round wins is hardly surprising .

Yeah it wasn't surprising to a few people specially to Coach Roach who once said that Hatton doesn't belong in the same ring with PAC and predicted a 3rd round KO...

Like I've said, majority were surprised of the very early ending... Even Pacquiao himself was surprised... I think 80% of the experts, writers and fans picked PAC to win but not via KO in the 2nd round...

I've heard one guy who placed a $10 bet on a 2nd round KO and wins $250... Lucky guy...

    A $10 bet on 1st round KO wins $300 ...

Well it seems NOBODY lost that much and didn't bet on a do or die bet. Phew i thought other people were also a victim of the consequence of the fight. A fan died of a heart-attack here in the Phil and there were other 3 who got electrocuted cause they needed to adjust the antenna.
