He ruined it by beating Zab who then moved up and won the undisputed welterweight title?
I don't think Zab's career was a bad career at all by any stretch.
The problem is by now he should have accomplished more.
It's not that his career was ruined, his career has been good, but his career doesn't match what his talent was.
When it comes down to that aspect of his career it is and always shall be Zab's fault.
But his career was never "ruined" he won another title at 140 and became undisputed champ at 147, thats not a bad career. It's just not what it should have been, him being one of the most underachieving talents in boxing is his own fault. He did well to bounce back after the Tszyu loss and become and undisputed champ, but then he fell right back into it right when he looked like he'd matured. and thats his fault.
