I don't get what your saying so just because armchair fans wouldn't of heard of Michael Nunn, Sumbu Kalambay, it doesn't count ?

Any person that follow's boxing would know who they are, and since it earned the first ever KO of the year. I would say it is a pretty well known amongst proper boxing fans.

And it was even more shocking because Sumbu Kalambay had a world class chin, and he had beaten the likes of Herol Graham, Iran Barkley, Steve Collins, Mike McCallum.

And also add to the fact that Michael Nunn wasn't known as a big puncher was even more shocking, and i'd say it was even more shocking and brutal than Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton was.
Ok,maybe I could have made myself more clear by what I ment by top level.

I ment in a fight which is important to the whole world of sport not just to a few hard core boxing fans.

Having read the thread and some of the replies I think Lewis's KO of Rahman might have been better and more important.
Ok so you want big name fighters that everyone's heard of ?

Buster Douglas vs Mike Tyson
Lewis KOing Rahman tops that imo.
