I find it odd saying this, but I think it's true. Imo, the number 1 reason why Khan is being hated is because of his ancestry background.

Well I can't stand Khan for most of the reasons mentioned here, yet I was a massive fan of Naz who went on about his religion and where he was from all the time yet he had a huge fanbase.
I think you will find that where his parents were from/his religion/skin colour etc... have absolutely nothing at all to do with why boxing fans don't like him.
I hate Khan for a number of reasons and race doesn't come into it. I dislike him because a) He talks so much crap it's unbeliavable b) People must pay PPV to watch him fight bums c) The Barrera fight was a HUGE farce and a con job on a legend d) Getting a shot at a title at 140 on the basis of what?
The guy is a fraud and people keep shelling out to watch him. He was lucky to get Barrera on his resume and he does not deserve a shot at a belt at 140.
I hope he gets sparked again and sooner rather than later.
He could be blue, green, pink or coloured like a rainbow. It doesn't matter. I just don't like him.
Its a shamebut Anthony Mundine is a big mouth too and draws all kinds of hatred.
He originally thought to copy the footsteps of his hero the Great Muhammad Ali by being outspoken for Islam.
People hate him cause he spouts off over anything and some of his native Aboriginal brothers pull the race card out over other fans hatred of him as well, so its not limited to just Kahn.
They are right in some instances though ;
We don't need those kinds near mainstream boxing yelling racial insults etc they need to be hurled out as fast as if they threw cans at the fighter (which they also did to Mundine once after he beat Sam Soliman in their second fight).
Well, I think I've not read the same stuff as you as I've seen nowhere where he opened his mouth that much to deserve crap, he's miles and miles and miles behind PRince Naseem, Tarver, Roy Jones Mayweather etc in matter of talking crap, he doesn't even come close to Haye, matter of fact. As for the Barrera fight, it is not exactly his fault if the fight did end up this way so I do not see no reasons here neither to hate him, it's not like if he would have said: "well, let's clash up head with Barrera and end up this fight in controversy to make sure nobody will give me the credit I deserve". As for a Fraud, he's still a silver medalist, that should show that the kid has at least some talent somewhere though it doesn't automatically make him a world champion.

First let me say, that article was garbage. About as garbage as you can get. I'm sure there were people on internet forums calling Obama the N word after he won his election but that means essentially nothing and regardless of what message board they were on, Eastside, Doghouse or any of them, if they said something like that then they were most likely banned.
From everything I have seen of Khan in the US media and what I read on here, I don't see any reason not to like him. He seems like a good enough guy, I really don't know much more then that about him.
I'm not a Khan fan, but not because of his race and I don't think anyone really thinks that way, even in their subconscious because when it comes to athletes, I'd like to think that race finds a way to not matter. Look at Tiger Woods who has the entire golf world on his side as a black man, because he plays the game right and he conducts himself accordingly. That's golf, an all white sport.
People slag off Khan the same reason people slag off De La Hoya and JCC Jr. When boxing fans hear a whole lot about something that isn't all that relevant, or they see attention going to perhaps where it isn't so much deserved, then they start generating reasons to dislike a guy. When people see so much being poured into Khan and have to watch him on PPV to pretend it's a big deal to see him spark a guy who means nothing to the division, then it is going to irk them. That's the reason for it, not race so come off it. We're not talking about Hurricane Katrina, it's boxing.
Naive Amat. Altho to be fair it probably is harder to imagine when you're not living in britain. Let me explain....
In Britain the media always highlight a crisis and they like to sensationalise news to sell papers. Happens everywhere i'd imagine.
At the minute i believe there is a lot of confusion amongst idiotic brits which imo leads to 'all brown people' being the same. It's the media's fault.
First off there is Help for heroes campaign which is designed to aid soldiers who are injured 'at war.' A decent campaign it seems, but then the media really like to push the heroes slant down your throats. To some people it may seem insensitive seen as though they may have had innocent family killed in Iraq (not going to go into the bullshit reasons for us and you going into Iraq in here - but the fact is we went in looking for WMD, killed almost 1million Iraq natives, and didn't find a single thing). Obviously when something like that happens some people are going to be pissed off. So some 'brown people' protested at the Heroes March, and the media had a field day. Avergage Joe picks up the paper the following day to read about 'how sick muslim extremists' boo'd 'our boys.' Average Joe is angry at this because the media tell him to be. I'm not saying the booing is right, but you can understand why not everyone is down with calling 'our boys' heroes.
Another story was in the Daily Star and it was reporting on the Mumbai Killings where some Brits had been executed. On the front page it had a picture of a Muslim, with the headline 'Gloating Bastard' - 'Sick Muslim Extremist Gloats over Brit deaths'
When i turned over to read the rest of the story i was literally gobsmacked. All the guy had said was something along the lines of 'Mumbai at the minute is a dangerous place, i certainly wouldn't like to be there and i wouldn't advise any Brits to go there in the near future'
Avergae Joe reads the headline, shows it to his mate, he tells his family. Result is the same: it creates an us and them mentality which is not what britain is supposed to be about.
There are plenty more examples. I remember one example of when the stabbings in London we're all over the papers. One day there was a headline about a black guy stabbings somebody and it was actually covered on about 6 or 7 pages. Then somewhere in the middle of the paper was a story about a white man stabbing somebody. Didn't even get it's own page - just a column.
Sorry to bring this up and i certainly don't think all members of the board are the average Joe's who need the media to give them their opinion on something. I just had to say it because i honestly believe it's a massive problem. I've said before that i've been disgusted to hear comments aimed at Khan and at Naz both from internet boards and from generally talking to people out and about. I'm not saying racism is the only factor and on this board i don't imagine it to be a factor at all, but i am saying that the media have an awful lot to answer to. They are creating huge problems which are strengthening the divide between 'us and them'

Fucks sake!!! Who takes any notice of the Daily Star?![]()
Ziggy Shah's article is nothing but predictable, lazy crap. Surely written by a teenager and definite casual boxing follower.
Shock horror there are racists that boo Khan. The good thing is, Khan never seems in the slighest bit bothered by these apparent hordes of racists harassing him. Probably because the Khan FANS far outweigh the racists.
Oh yeah.. and if a guy that got knocked out in 55 seconds, by a fellow prospect, goes on to become "Britain's greatest ever fighter" it will be beyond a miracle of biblical proportions. Fact.

I seem to read a lot of rubbish with his name attached, though it has been pointed out than on occasion it is reporters twisting things. This latest stuff about Roach turning him into a P4P fighter within two years is the latest one to get me. He hasn't even won a title yet and here he is blathering about P4P stuff. He said Kotelnik was a rubbish champion and next thing he is fighting him and making an about face. Seems like a bit of a muppet IMO. Rather stupid and gets taken in rather easily. Now some of those other fighters can talk some drivel but they proved they can talk it AND walk it. Khan has proven nothing to me yet. Getting rocked repeatedly by tiny little men.
I hate the way people who know nothing about boxing will pay to watch him fight. The only fight worth paying for was Barrera and that was largely on the back of Barrera's name, the legend that he is. It is a big con.
The Barrera fight upset me largely because I am a huge Barrera fan. Khan didn't do it on purpose, but the nature of the fight left a very sour taste. And Khan was very lucky to get away with it. It should have been a NC after two. What happened to Don Kings protest? It's all quietly gone away. Typical.
Khan did pretty well in the amateurs. No doubt about it. But his form has been patchy as a pro and it really has been classic Warren match making except for the Prescott debacle. And now going up to 140 just because there isn't a meaningful fight at 135 that he can win.
I'm just not sold on him at all. I don't like these Olympic fighters that go pro and have all the opportunities handed on a plate. That DeGale muppet is another one. I hope he falls on his face too.![]()
Exactly Miles, people wonder why he is so hated, and he does it again " Roach said id be p4p number by the time im 24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Please Amir actully do something like beat a half decent world class fighter before spouting your mouth off, hes a tool, the guy needs to be reeled in and reminded he has beat no one and has been knocked down 4/5 times in his career all ready put to sleep and has fought no one in the top 10 of any division, but typical Kahn instead of getting on with his business now says he will be p4p number 1 in 2 years.
