Because when you are the best fighter you don't call people out, they call you out.

Marquez called Mayweather out and Mayweather responded. And he intends to fight Pacquiao.

You can dominate a weight division and get no credit whatsoever(example Klitschko in the heavyweights)

And Mayweather was undisputed welterweight champ and got no credit because of the names he did not fight.

Sometimes it's not about where you fight but also who you fight and at the time of their career. Fighting Marquez and Pacquiao would definately mean good for his p4p status. But as you've shown he wouldn't get any credit whatsoever.

Who would he fight at 147? Berto is inexperienced, Cotto is fighting Clottey, Williams vacated his title and has moved up to around middleweight apparently, who is left for Mayweather to fight at Welterweight? Shane Mosley is the only other name.

And yet if Mosley and Pacquiao fought no one would bash Mosley for fighting "the smaller guy" would they?

its selective criticism and hate when it comes to Mayweather
Agree with your post. A lot of people just want to see Mayweather lose or be in a toe
to toe fight, you could include me in wanting to see that in the past. You are correct
in stating that if a strong Welterweight like Mosley fought Pac everyone would be cool
    with that.

You are also correct that JMM called out Mayweather after his last fight with Diaz,
it wasn't Mayweather calling out JMM.

I think the answer to the question is: Are you going to buy it?

    For me; No.

How much money would Floyd make if he fought Margarito compared to other guys he faced instead? Of course everybody wants to fight the bigger name for a nice quick fat paycheck but the big name also wants the same so why not face someone who will bring more to the table? Don't we all do that? Floyd vs Margarito would probably end up like another Baldomir-like fight where you had a slow puncher receiving punches from all angles and running away from danger which is a smart tactic, not everybody's favorite technique but its not illegal either.

Mayweather has to be more cautious than Manny because he is undefeated, and for some reason everybody thinks he is a natural welterweight, if he beat Magarito like Mosley did, people could simply say Margarito was overrated. If Mayweather beat Cotto the same thing, Mayweather was expected to win. Even in outboxing Oscar, even Jim Lampley stated around round 9, "I knew all along Floyd was going to win, but I am surprised how well Oscar has done to stay in the fight". WTF Mayweather was only a 2 to 1 favorite, Oscar looked great against Mayorga, he was the best fighter Mayweather had ever faced, and it was at 154. Mayweather gets no credit because he is expected to win every fight.

Difference between floyd and pac is yea floyd is expected to win because he severly selects his oppenent. Pac on the other hand is reckless and on ocassion pac is expected to be kncok the fuck out, bulldoze, pick apart, school but then after the fight happens pac has made another fighter look old.

For the boxing purists, this is a dream match. For the warriors out there, unless they engage, it will be a "ho hum" fight.

The purists will say beautiful after every jab, feint, counter punch etc... Posts will fly with words that belong in an art exhibit. Bravo, nice, did you see that move...hmmm dancing with the stars redux?

The warriors want blood...normally you will hear oooohhhh, oh my goood, Damnnnnnnn, shiitttttt, yahooooooo, did you see that, ahhhhhhhhhhh (pac - hatton, ali - foreman, most of Mike Tysons fights, Vasquez - Marquez, ward gatti, castillo - corrales, most fight od the year candidates)

Mayweather - Marquez? Beautiful, wow what a move, slick, nice, bravo!!! On to the next round!
